It's been 30 years since the first commercially available handheld mobile phone was released. A lot has changed since then! 1983 THE MOTOROLA DynaTAC 8000x Mobile pioneers Motorola released the now-famously named 'brick' handheld mobile in the US in 1983, costing nearly $4000. 1987 NOKIA MABIRA CITYMAN 900 Europe's answer to the 'brick,' with its huge battery this phone weighed 800g and cost nearly 4,600 Euros. 1989 MOTOROLA MicroTAC 9800x The smallest phone of its time, this was one of the first mobiles to be able to actually fit in your pocket. 1992 NOKIA 1011 Nokia made history with the first mass produced 'candy bar' type GSM phone. 1993 IBM SIMON PERSONAL COMMUNICATOR The first touchscreen PDA and phone combination. Only produced for 6 months. 1996 MOTOROLA StarTAC The first clamshell phone from Motorola was also the world's lightest at the time. 1996 NOKIA 8810 Its near-indestructibility, ease of use and long lasting charge made this mobile incredibly popular. 2002 ERICSSON T39 This very small mobile phone was the first to utilise Bluetooth. 2002 NOKIA 3510i One of the first mass-market phones to feature a colour screen and GPRS internet. 2003 NOKIA N-GAGE This attempt to take down the Gameboy resulted in something that wasn't that great at being a phone or a console. 2004 MOTOROLA RAZR V3 This sleek and stylish looking flip-phone was amazingly this for its time. 2006 LG CHOCOLATE KG800 LG continued the trend of stylish looking affordable mobiles with the attractive Chocolate. 2007 APPLE iPHONE The original smartphone was an instant classic, completely rethinking te way mobiles were used. 2008 BLACKBERRY STORM Blackberry's 'iPhone Killer' was the company's first mobile to ditch the QWERTY keyboard. 2010 APPLE iPHONE 4 The fourth generation of Apple smartphones incorporated a range of updates, including a new design and faster processor. 2011 SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 This award winning mobile knocker Apple off the top spot as the greatest smartphone manufacturers of all time. 2012 SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2 Samsung continues to improve upon their larger 'phablets' with the creatively powerful Galaxy Note 2. 2013 HTC ONE The recently released 4G-ready HTC One has received rave reviews, and is billed to 'completely reshape the smartphone experience.' 2013 SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 Due to be released later this year, early reports have pegged this super-smart phone as the next evolutionary step for Samsung. |

pictures wld make dis topic a lot more interesting, abi my people wetin una think nah but I don't understand what HTC one, note 2 and the s4 are doing on this list, or is dis am attempt to mention phones for dia popularity? a note 1 shld take d place of d note 2 since it was probably d first phablet to break grounds, also d s4 should be replaced by a galaxy note edge, while d HTC should be scrapped off d list cos itz irrelevant in so many ways 1 Like |
