The heat from the sun heats up the earth. Everybody knows that.

When something heats up it gives heat radiation. I mean even when you look down a tarred road especially on a sunny day, you see radiation from the surface as if fire is giving off heat from a distance.

This radiated heat that is supposed to leave the earth back up is blocked by some gasses called green house gases. Methane is one of these gases called green house gases. This blockage makes the earth warmer and then leads to other environmental consequences.
