Nutter has corrected his initial estimate of a quarter million dollars daily income from Obasanjo farms, Ono, and that vindicates my extreme skepticism about that first wild claim and its associated link. That quarter million dollars has now been ammended to be monthly, rather than daily income, which of course is a one 30th fraction of Nutter's first daily revenue quote for Obasanjo Farms. Regardless of the fortunes of Obasanjo farms, it is safe to assume that the cash flow commanded by President Obasanjo's signature as head of state is substantially larger than the income from the farmstead that Obasanjo left when he moved to Nigeria's seat of power. I reserve judgement on the question of whether or to what extent Obasanjo joined members of his administration who may have succumbed to temptation and scooped from the national treasury, as the true picture of such activities will probably only emerge after he leaves office for civilian life. |

@Jakumo, Is that all you can say? I mean, really? Fani-Kayode’s mental health or lack thereof is not the issue. The man’s nature is known to all, hence my referral to him as a ‘rabid dog’. But, that is not really the point is it? Whether the stated revenue generated is true or not (and I am inclined to believe that it is), the fact remains that something is very wrong with this picture. If Fani-Kayode was speaking out of turn, King Kong would/should have stepped-up to set the record straight. He didn’t. Now, the issue this throws up is: If King Kong hasn’t come up to say Fani-Kayode was wrong in his claims, why are you lot doing it for him? Why throw yourself in the line of fire so carelessly? I can understand if Odeku does this. From thread to thread I have reprimanded his blinkered view on all things King Kong. I have no idea what you have been writing vis-à-vis King Kong but if I am to go by your claim that you are not a King Kong apologist, it becomes very difficult to comprehend your current stance - very difficult indeed. Also, why didn’t you read the links? You complained about the first not being credible. You said it was written by just ‘some guy in Texas’. I have now provided other links, one of which is a BBC report. Yet, you say you haven’t read them. With all due respect, I do not believe you. I believe you have been confronted with the truth and have (unwisely) chosen to turn a blind eye and go out of your way to introduce other matters. There is no need to sermonise about Fani-Kayode and his smoking habits. That is not the issue. Moreover, what is this your obsession with weed, cocaine and other illicit drugs? Are you trying to tell us something? A cry for help perhaps? I am just asking oh! In sum, the fact remains that King Kong did not refute the claims made by Fani-Kayode so it doesn’t become you to say the man was speaking out of turn. If you have facts to backup your CLAIMS then do share. I am open to a mind change in the face of hard facts. Remember, these sources (if you ever provide them) had better have the same level of credibility as you have required of mine. @Ono, My brother, thank you for your candour. Facts are facts. Let any who still has an argument to proffer take it up with the BBC and other sources. People who are open to the truth do not conduct themselves in the manner demonstrated above. Sometimes I cannot help but laugh at the attempts of many on this forum to catch the truth in a very tangled web. Anyway, let us continue to name and shame all those responsible for the suffering of many in that country. There are no sacred cows in my book. None! A thief is a thief. We stop fighting when we stop breathing. Greetings, comrade. |

Are u saying that because his farm generates large income that he is corrupt? |
Re: Babangida's Son Arrested By Efcc by Nutter(m): 1:24pm On Aug 17, 2006 |
Haba, Mariory, c'mon now. You sure you want to go down that road? Ok. How did he get the farm in the first place? Let's start from there. |
Re: Babangida's Son Arrested By Efcc by Odeku(m): 2:22pm On Aug 17, 2006 |
He got the farm right after he handed over to Shagari, now why are you so bent on saying negative things about this man, he has done wonderful things for Nigeria in his second coming, what has the damn Northerners done but distroy us and send us all over to foreign countries to slave for labor? and foe your info, if this man makes that much money and he is 70 years old, there is no way in hell his children will be here in the state working as a lawyer, he will be in Nigeria enjoying the money like Muhammed IBB |
Re: Babangida's Son Arrested By Efcc by Nutter(m): 2:50pm On Aug 17, 2006 |
My question, since you have chosen to deliberately miss it, was ‘How did he get the farm’ and NOT ‘’When did he get the farm’. Please tell us. |

Nutter your statement about the MONTHLY income of Obasanjo farms is accurate and proven beyond doubt with all those links, but so what if Obasanjo Farms clears a quarter million greenbacks a month ? That income figure still seems overstated to me, but those details are for the farm's auditors and tax assessors to debate over, and do not necessarily constitute substantive proof of any wrong doing on the part of the president. Similarly your repeated refrain about Obasanjo Farms having been purchased with embezzled money would ring far truer if you had more than just a very strong sense of conviction to offer as material evidence supporting your opinion. Ono I share your curiosity about the true ownership of Transcorp, one of the major investors in today's Nigeria. Amazing it is too, that such a gigantic corporate entity cannot be traced to a physical address, if your words to that effect are not misinformed. Perhaps those contact details are buried somewhere in the fine print to reduce unwanted attention from business competitors in Nigeria. Anyway, with billions of dollars at stake, all the minutiae of Transcorp's lineage and ownership are sure to emerge at some point, but by then may only amount to a quickly forgotten storm in a teacup, as usual. |

Nutter: @ nutter, am not obj's fan or hold brief for him,and while i dont particularly like his administrative style, garrulous/garrisson politics and flagrant disregard for court orders, i will tell you with every sense of conviction that i dont believe he's corrupt(at least financial corruption). are we forgetting he took a loan of a million naira in the early 80's which was facilitated by joseph sanusi the former CBN governor who was then with ist bank? that my friend was how his farm was acquired. need i tell you a million naira still held a lot of value at that time or that as former head of state, he could be given a loan on personal recognition without necessraily having collateral? the facts are there. OBJ is not my friend or some sort of icon figure i look up to, but coruption(financial) is certainly not one of his bane. we should please stay issue focused, and be objective in our analyses. |

Re: Babangida's Son Arrested By Efcc by Nutter(m): 4:01am On Aug 18, 2006 |
@ Ono, Brother Nutter, let me help Odeku: Correct! The very same way Marwa saved long and hard to float an airline. I copy. @Jakumo, Nutter your statement about the MONTHLY income of Obasanjo farms is accurate and proven beyond doubt with all those links, but so what if Obasanjo Farms clears a quarter million greenbacks a month ? I’ll tell you so what. That farm was stolen from the Nigerian people. That income should be part of the income accruable to the centre to move the country along its long espoused but substantially neglected aim of diversification. If the right thing was done from the off, oil would not be the mainstay of the economy and Niger Delta inhabitants would not be forced to contend with polluted rivers and destroyed farmland on a daily basis. That income figure still seems overstated to me, but those details are for the farm's auditors and tax assessors to debate over, and do not necessarily constitute substantive proof of any wrong doing on the part of the president. 1.Mate, you just said above that the income generated is ‘accurate and proven beyond doubt’ so what are you on about now? 2.It may be overstated to you but that is irrelevant. Have you been to the farm to see things for yourself? Aside from this, it’s one of two things: (a) The farm does indeed make that much or (b) The farm doesn’t make as much but the figure has been inflated as a cover for illegally acquired monies while in government – akin to how those involved in all manner of illegal activities tend to have ‘legitimate’ businesses for cover (read money laundering). Either way, there is definitely 'something of the night' about all things King Kong. 3.He has remained on the board of the company despite holding public office and, even more worrying, despite hounding others who have similarly contravened established Code of Conduct stipulations. That is wrong. 4.His company has purchased significant shares in Transcorp, a company that is buying up the country one piece at a time. All this while he holds elective office. This is also wrong. 5.As the farm was acquired illegally, the sizable income it generates for him (instead of for the nation) further highlights his culpability. His above record does not fill me with the same confidence it apparently does you. You really should stop looking at these issues through rose-tinted glasses. This man will definitely be returning to jail at some point. He will not pass ‘Go’ and he most certainly will not be collecting 200 Pounds. Only the luxury of a premature death can save him now. Mark my words. Similarly your repeated refrain about Obasanjo Farms having been purchased with embezzled money would ring far truer if you had more than just a very strong sense of conviction to offer as material evidence supporting your opinion. It is widely-known that King Kong was a soldier his entire professional life. From the time he left secondary school, through the time he committed war crimes, up until he handed over to Shagari (the only near-decent thing the man’s record shows him to have done) and retired from the army. It is also widely-known that he could not possibly have made enough on a soldier’s wage to afford payment for that farm. Someone (Dude) has just stated that he received a 1 million Naira loan from First Bank. I address this below. In the interim, I suggest you think twice before rising in defence of this animal called man (the title of Kong’s book BTW – how apt) else both of you will be tarred with the same brush. @Odeku, why are you guys deviating from the original text? Babangida's Son Arrested By Efcc can we re-focus please. and leave MR presido alone and RIbadu. Yeah, you’d like that, wouldn’t you? Sorry but the war on corruption is King Kong’s illegitimate baby. Therefore, he is inextricably linked to all cases where any is arrested on charges of corruption which many (including, of course, yours truly) very strongly believe he is just as guilty of. Nice try though. The only thing I can think of why people are so vague about this man is either they are beneficiaries of IBB corruption saga or are loosing money left and right from 419. OBJ is a no nonsense man and I like him for that. Thank you. Those of us who question ‘The Kong’ must be Babangida boys or ‘419ers’? That’s very clever reasoning. This because I dared to ask you to defend your Oga’s activities. This because I refused to allow King Kong’s apologists (of which you are proudly one) to rig my memory of established facts like Kong himself rigged the elections in which he contested. I urge you - in the politest manner possible - to immediately refrain from casting such aspersions in my general direction. You are not the only one that can ‘talk’. You have been warned. @ Dude, i will tell you with every sense of conviction that i don't believe he's corrupt(at least financial corruption). Really? Are you so sure you will be prepared to stake your life on it? are we forgetting he took a loan of a million naira in the early 80's which was facilitated by joseph sanusi the former CBN governor who was then with ist bank? that my friend was how his farm was acquired. need i tell you a million naira still held a lot of value at that time or that as former head of state, he could be given a loan on personal recognition without necessraily having collateral? the facts are there. Allow me to share with you what I know: 1.The farm commenced commercial operations in 1979 and not the early 1980s. 2.Operations began with 50 million Naira (over 50 Million Dollars at the time) and not a measly 1 million Naira. 3.All the independent sources I have consulted unanimously affirm that there is no evidence of any loan being obtained before the farm commenced operations. If, as you say, ‘the facts are there’, please share them with us. You will be doing many a great service as those facts have thus far eluded the most scholastic of minds. However, until you make said facts available, I am sure you will understand my hesitation to attach any serious consideration to what remains mere conjecture. OBJ is not my friend or some sort of icon figure i look up to, but coruption(financial) is certainly not one of his bane. Again, are you so sure you will be prepared to stake your life on it? we should please stay issue focused, and be objective in our analyses. Your presentation of facts which support your claims will certainly move us swiftly along the path of objectivity. I await your response - with bated breath no less. |

in fact, things do happen, i was just going thru this fantastic forum when i came across this topic. That also reminds me of FUNSHO WILLIAMS, DIKIBO I.K, HARRY MARSHAL, BOLA IGE, and the rest of the PDP. What is the police doing about the investigation and the government at large. That not withstanding, the other day, i was in abuja heading to "SANI ABACHA BARRACKS" now something like "MODAGACHI or whatever BARRACKS" when i saw a fine honda halla ravaging with fire. Well our car stopped but the three heavy men their dared not allow anyone come closer. they said they would take care of it. It was later we realised the plan. A young man working in the presidency was sliently trailed and killed in his car and laid on the back seat and burnt. Well, fellow forum mates, please where is NIGERIA or 9ja heading to. Thanks |

IBB has been making headlines in virtually every newspaper in the country. if it's not his son's arrest, then it's $12.4bn. there are cases he's been expecting to spring up which he pointed out on Daily Sun's 21st August report and i quote his words; I haven't been naive to think that the issues of June 12, Ejigbo Hercules crash, Dele Giwa, $12.4bn, and Vatsa will not come up. I want to assure you that at the appointed time, I will answer these questions. For now, it's him and Gen. Vatsa's wife at war (headline in yesterday's papers), where she claims her husband was betrayed by IBB as he (her husband) saved IBB who was the sparehead of the Dimka coup (that's another headline in today's papers). they both say they have archived documents, so let's wait and see. this thread should be closed. No need to discuss IBB anymore. he is a law to himself, Nigeria's untouchable. Vatsa's wife can make all the noise she wants, she is entitled but no one would touch him. this issue are coming up now because evil mans evil will trail him to his grave, how will IBB be remembered when he died? the reason Nigeria is demoralized today is attributed to IBB sanctions and embezzlement. how cane he not account for $15B oil money in the gold war, what about Dele Giwa and the popular Gloria case Dele was about to exposed, we shall all see how all his atrocities will be unfold. |

Lets lay of OBJ's farms. Whatever the source of start-up capital, we all know where he has put it and to good use too (It could have been sitting quietly in Switzerland out of prying eyes like Atiku, IBB, Danjuma have done). OBJ farms employs hundreds of Nigerians, contributes to our national GDP. Besides like Odeku stated earlier, he has done a great deal in his second coming and deserves some commendations, his shortcoming not withstanding. On the other hand, IBB, Atiku and the likes of them leave a great deal to be contemplated. These men are major league crooks, manipulative and secretive to the point of distraction. Dollar billionaires without a clear line of business. Despite the noise with TransCorp, it still stands as one of the most open transactions in the national privatisation process. TransCorp acquired their oil block through a public bidding (where we all know transcorp paid the most for their blocks) so please get the facts right before joining the bandwagon of critics. The fact that the likes of Atiku, Danjuma, IBB acquire oil blocks for next to nothing and flog off discretely to American and Chinese companies for billions of dollars through front companies I would have thought would be of greater concern to us, We have this tendency to focus on irrelevance whilst the obvious stares us in the face. We really do need to open our eyes and elevate our thinking, |

I think EFCC is doing just fine. Witchhunting, being selective, whatever? I belive they are doing well enough, my fear is it's existence beyond 2007. hence, i'll advise the govt. of the day to really institutionalise this antigraft campaign, so that no govt. that will be in bad taste with EFCC will be able to scrap it just-like-that. For those alleging that that their fight has been selective, my question is, Are those that are supposedly arrested by EFCC for corruption guilty or not? It is not whether they are the only ones or not, do u guys feel me? |
Re: Babangida's Son Arrested By Efcc by Odeku(m): 1:59pm On Aug 25, 2006 |
THIS GOES OUT TO IBB BUTT LICKERS Former military dictator General Ibrahim Babangida (IBB), who some people call Maradona but prefers to be known as "the Evil Genius," has finally declared his intention to run for the office of President in the next general elections. According to him, Nigeria is in ruins and disrepair and he verily believes that he has the capacity to repair or fix it. If the speech that I read is representative of his beliefs then he is saying that he is the only one that can repair Nigeria. That is, the Nigeria that he ruined. But I will come to that later. According to him, with the exit of the military and the advent of democracy, Nigerians had hoped that things would be better for the country, but that is not the case. Nigerians are greatly disappointed in President Olusegun Obasanjo as he has failed them and dashed their hope of a quick and accelerated economic development. Babangida did not explain the yardstick he used in measuring President Obasanjo’s performance and the peoples’ assessment of it. I have the feeling that he based his views entirely on the summation of his admirers and sycophants who are gearing up to climb on his back and return to power and affluence. Without any caution he seems to have taken their flattery for the people’s voice but I am certain that the instant response to his declaration must have driven home the fact that he must have ignored many pertinent issues in his comeback. He probably must be chiding those who hurried him to make the hasty and dangerous declaration. Agreed, he had since 1999 made it clear that the only reason why he kept off the political arena was to avoid a collision with President Obasanjo. He had said that until President Obasanjo declares Aso Rock vacant,he was not going to participate in any election. That was wise and commendable. After ruling Nigeria for that long (August, 1985-August, 1993) through the instrumentality of force, and after plunging the nation into one of its severest political turmoils on account of his annulment of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election, an election Nigerians considered to be the most transparent and freest, commonsense would have advised him against taking on an incumbent as ruthless as President Obasanjo. But by thinking that the only bar he has on his desire to return to the Aso Rock bunker is President Obasanjo, he made an unpardonable error that he would live to regret for the rest of his life. An average thinking person would have known that his past is in essence his path to Aso Rock. What I mean here is that it is his past that will determine or seal his political fate. If Obasanjo is a factor in his bid for the Presidency, I consider his past as a more critical factor. There is no way he can avoid his past. Already, many issues have rightly come up that will or should engage him. The issue of the killing of his bosom friend, General Mamman Vatsa, is making the headlines now, but that issue may not be as telling on him as the allegation that he had a hand in the murder of Dele Giwa. The Press may not forgive a man they consider as the killer of one of their own especially when he ignored the opportunity to dispel the allegation at the Oputa Panel. His spite for the Oputa Panel is in itself an issue on its own and my feeling is that many people went away with the belief that his rush for judicial protection was an indication of guilt. The Panel was to my mind a beautiful opportunity that he bungled. The most critical issue in the ambition of IBB is about how he can reconcile his ambition of wanting to get to the Presidency through the electoral process with the general view that he personified the military’s disdain for the electoral process. It would take, and, in fact IBB would establish, the greatest wonder on earth if he is able to get the forgiveness of Nigerians over his role in the June 12 calamity and get elected as the democratic Executive President of this country. I imagine that those who risked the elements and went out to vote in the historic June 12 elections are still around and would constitute a sizeable number of those that would vote in the forthcoming general elections. The children and perhaps the grandchildren of those unfortunate June 12, 1993 electorate would be part of the electorate in the elections that IBB intends to use to return to Aso Rock. IBB is said to be a very perceptive and cautious person. The way he carried himself over the years support these characteristics, but his decision to return to the political fray betrays some failings that history has kept away from the generality of us. Many people are of the view that the searchlight placed on his son and perhaps his own protÈgÈs is to scare him away from the political process, but I am of a very different view. If for anything I think President Obasanjo is earnestly trying to shore up sympathy for him. Without the scandals of his son and the rumours about his huge investments through fronts, IBB is politically worse off. Without any rigorous thinking, it is easy to tell why IBB can never see the four walls of Aso Rock again. IBB personifies the ugly history of this country. Military adventrurism, political and economic corruption would be nothing more or less than IBB if they were to be human. IBB is the most celebrated military adventurer that this country has produced. He features prominently on all the annals of coups in this country. At the twilight of his military career he presided over the regime that ruined the moral fabric of this country. He institutionalised opportunism and corruption. If Nigeria is grappling today with moral crisis it is because of IBB. It was the era of IBB and his fellow adventurers that this country lost all of its glorious past. All institutions and infrastructures of the state were destroyed by IBB and his ilk. The most singular problem that Nigeria has had to grapple with since the inception of this republic is the issue of what socio-economic path it should take to fast- track the need to return the country to the path of sustained growth and development. The country is yet to build and sustain firm democratic structures and developmental morals due to the military mindset of the generality of the political actors. An IBB presidency would be a disservice to civilisation and the global effort to wean Africa away from its dictatorial past. The outside world would not take Nigeria very seriously if it failed or refuses to break away from its sorrowful past. IBB represents that past and if I were him I would spare this country the misfortune and pains of bringing back the ugly pictures of its socio-political past. If I were IBB I would have gone into self-redeeming endeavours. I would have worked earnestly to express penitence and remorse. I would save my old life the odium and ridicule that an attempt at the presidency would bring. I would have surrendered some of my ill-gotten acquisitions to the state and cooperate with the EFCC in its efforts to end the culture of graft and impunity. |
