Faceless Islamic Doll For Children Launched In Britain by Positivist: 9:55am On Dec 16, 2014 |
A doll with no nose, mouth, or eyes has been launched for Muslim children in Lancashire, UK. The faceless doll was created by Ridhwana B, a former teacher at a Muslim school. It is aimed at children living in strict Muslim families. In order to adhere to Islamic rulings regarding the depictions of facial features, the doll has no eyes, nose or mouth. The doll comes in just one design, it wears a traditional hijab headdress and red dress. The toy took four years to create and is being sold for $40. There is a limited number of them now but Ridhwana says she will be ready to create more if demand for them is high. She said, “The Islamic range in kids toys is quite limited at the moment with few choices. Although this project took a while, I am looking at researching other ideas in the future. I am looking at compiling a book for the Islamic upbringing of children in the future too.” Strict Muslim teachings rule against the representation of humans and animals in other forms, and specifically Muslim gods and their companions. That means the depiction of facial features of any kind, including pictures, sculptures and even dolls are forbidden.

In creating this, I think the essence of the child owning a doll has been ultimately destroyed. A doll is supposed to look like a human being, it should be all or nothing. Can't imagine growing up with faceless dolls..totally not nice 6 Likes 1 Share |

This Muslim fools never seizes to amaze me, why even make a toy at all if you know you will not make a complete one? they should have made a car toy with the Koran(complete with bling bling rims) and give it to their kids since they don't want anything Western. And to think they go round 2 Likes |

And to think they go round seeking Asylum in the Western World, to get a better life and then bring their barbaric indoctrination to the same countries that "PITIED" them is really annoying. 3 Likes |

lafflaff123: It's not about not wanting anything western. You don't av to call people names to make your point. Islam forbids sculptures and paintings of animate objects and this is like a substitute for people who still want dolls despite being Muslim. May be a lil extreme but it is what it is. |

Is this serious? Hijabi dolls certainly aren't a new concept, but what's the essence of manufacturing a faceless hijabi doll? Afterthought: Perhaps it's the new niqabi doll 1.0? They couldn't keep the face veil stationary, so they decided to erase her face... |
