Born in Tambuwal Local Government Area,
Sokoto State. He obtained a Bsc in
Management from Usmanu Danfodiyo
University Sokoto, and an MBA from Ahmadu
Bello University, Zaria.
After taking his seat in the Senate in June
1999, he was appointed to committees on
Selection, Senate Services, Public Accounts,
Defence and Federal Character.
He was Senate Leader from June 1999 to
November 1999, and chair of the Senate
Committee on Economic Affairs from
2000-2003.
He was the PDP Candidate for governor of
Sokoto State in 2003.
In January 2007 Wali was appointed minister
for the National Planning Commission, and
deputy chairman of the commission, by
president Olusegun Obasanjo. Later, he was
appointed an ambassador to the Kingdom of
Morocco.
Wali's emergence as successful PDP
gubernatorial candidate in Sokoto state, is
indeed timely. It is timely because, he is widely
seen as a top most musketeer who can salvage
the state from its gutter most to its uppermost.
As an astute administrator and manager, Wali,
can help in no small measure in fumigating the
anomalies that have pervaded the socio-
economic and infrastructural development in
the state. No doubt, Wali, is a personification
of wisdom, experience, maturity, responsibility,
doggedness, uncommon resilience and
patriotism.
If given the mandate which I believe large
chunk of Sakkwatawa will do, Wali, with dual
experience in both the legislative and executive
arms of government, stands the chance to
administer the state well of all the aspirants
that contested with him.
Regardless of whichever political platform he
comes from, Wali, remains the candidate to
beat. For, he represents the issues concerning
the general affairs of the state. In fact, Senator
Abdallah is my candidate in Sokoto state, and
my vote is specially reserved for this illustrious
son of the state.
As all is now set for the 2015 general elections,
as Wali emerge as governor of Sokoto State.
