anonimi: my chairman..this your analysis bad gan but I could no longer hold my self from responding to your analysis. Even if NL has not yet lost its appeal to the extent that we no longer have learned people in the forum. 1. You buy a car for 3 million naira and you trade it in for a car of 5 million naira. Would the car company not consider the depreciation in the car because from your analysis you quietly ignored that aspect. Thus you might be paying 2million plus depreciation. If it was that easy trading cars then all car companies will be closed down. 2. Also do we know how much this new Jet would cost? What if it is 2 times the original cost? The deposit was stated but what is the total cost accrue-able to that particular transaction. 3. The Presidential Jet is officially for the president's retinue which is his immediate family and core cabinet members and not for flying every tom dick and harry. No where in the world does a president have more than two presidential jets and the second one is mainly as a backup and if need be for more planes they only need to liaise with a private airline operator and paste or paint the presidents seal on it. Then a plane for the VP which in some countries also makes use of the presidents jet. They may have military jets escorting them though and the number of that is dependent on the security threats 4. What is the difference between the president with over 7 jets and a man with over 50 cars in his compound.I know someone whose dad used to have such number of cars within their compound, bros even if one is a machine freak they should be a level of contentment associated with it. 5. You conveniently ignored in your analysis the recurrent cost of maintaining the existing Jets . In the present state of our economy it would have been more appropriate to trim down the number of Jets to a maximum of three. The rest can be sold and used to buy planes for the much needed national carrier we deserve. This is the way I expect a responsive leadership to behave unfortunately Nigeria is not blessed with such 10 Likes 1 Share |

I think we should blame the opposition for this again. Why is it that employers don't employ 1st class graduate of Cluelessness? GEJ would have been morethan qualified. Lol I just tire for this country. 3 Likes |

bjims: I clearly wrote this in my post that you quoted, did I not I have simply made assumptions to simplify the issues that the decision makers could have taken into consideration. So what else have you said that I have not captured and assigned FURTHER work to those who receive mega millions from us and are supposed to do the job BTW, I was wondering if your "responsive leadership" includes or excludes our NASS members? I look forward to your answer, sir! 1 Like 1 Share |

anonimi: I do appreciate your response but I was referring to the total recurring cost of maintaining all the Jets not just the proposed one except your analysis covers all the Jets. Take note also that the other Jets are also getting Old and IMO it would be better to discard all the Jets and buy 2 or 3 brand new ones. As regards the second observation you and I both know that the NASS will not do anything to stop the purchase since we all know how contracts are inflated and awarded. This is why I said we are not blessed with self less leaders. Leaders are called upon at different times in the life of a country to make a choice. The president does not need to be told that the acquisition or trading of jets is not what Nigeria needs now. We have been told by the iwealla about the austerity measures she proposes to put in place you cant tell me the president is not aware of it . 1 Like |

bjims: Please allow me to repeat again that I made SIMPLIFYING assumptions. Let the NASS members who are over-paid do their job of looking at the details of this aspect of the budget as well as other aspects. Not so As regards the second observation you and I both know that the NASS will not do anything to stop the purchase since we all know how contracts are inflated and awarded. - I know that ORDINARILY the NASS will not do anything. - I also know that ordinarily the HoR part of NASS "will not do anything" about the choice of the President and his party on having a particular tribe produce the Speaker to have some geo-political equity in the system at the federal level. Did that happen So why should we keep giving LAME excuses for our own (My, yours, 160 million plus of us) mental LAZINESS that makes us accept what is abnormal even when there is ample evidence that in a particular case we can make a difference Our constitution is largely modelled after the American's, not so Do you see their Congressmen have two heads, or maybe one & a half? Have they stopped us from having access to their books, library, history even online? Please let us be part of the change we claim we desire instead of waiting some do-all, know-all messiah who will inevitably work for his own personal agenda while pretending and fooling the clueless followers 1 Like 2 Shares |

anonimi: Exactly why we're going to vote out the PDP from the Presidency in 2015. Accepting the sheer incompetence of the ruling party since 1999 (and even worse in the past few years) has become a pill too bitter to swallow. Why not put your will where your mouth is and join us in punishing bad leaders? and FYI, NASS members are not exempt from this condemnation. Most people naturally focus on the rotten head. 4 Likes |

Just to put things into perspective: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_transports_of_heads_of_state_and_government You will notice even with a GDP of about 7 times that of Nigeria, members of the British royal family and the British PM, mostly fly commercial/chattered. Japan with about 12 times our GDP, has just 2...which serves Prime Minister, the Emperor, Empress and other members of the Imperial Family, it has even been used to transport peace keepers. PMs of Singapore, Malaysia, and some other 'better-off' countries, fly commercial/chattered mostly. And our GEJ has 8,9, or 10 private jets? Dubai built the Burj Dubai for $1.5b, while we had $20b, $40b or $50b (depending on who you believe), evolve legs/wings, and vanish into thin air. 4 Likes |

anonimi: All you said still boils down to leadership. I once tried to collect PTDF scholarship form in Abuja at the ministers office where the forms were been given , mind you I did not say the PTDF office because there was nothing to collect there. We were told there were no forms yet people were walking by us entering the office where the forms were kept and coming out with forms and the next door was the SERVICOM office which calmly ignored what was going on. After that incident I did not even bother to pick up PTDF forms since then. Nigerians demanded for an enquiry into the death of youth in the scam immigration issue and what happened? As long as the head is rotten it will flow downward. I am already the change I want nigeria to become the issue is would those who have everything to loose allow the EFCC and ICPC to work? Also you tactically avoided my post as regarding empathy of a leader to his follower and transferring my questions to the NASS. Does It mean the President does not read his own personal budget and allows the NASS to scrutinize it and then take such decisions for him. Mind you we are not all clueless followers and Feb 14 will prove that. 2 Likes |

Sibabasibaba1: You must be senile for you to tell me reference to Jonathan's daughter's flamboyant wedding makes my argument less reasonable. In a country where Polythenic students spent months in their houses and security operatives keep complaining of poor funding. By the way can do you really want to compare the cost of governance during Buhari's regime to what we have now? With a petroleum minister spending what is enough to put up a refinery for jets and travels? Pls before you sit to comment of my politeness next time, do realize that many of us are very emotional about our coward and are pained seeing the mess it is right now. Unlike the paid Okupe's that just come out and insult our sensibilities. 1 Like |

mcquin: ------------------ Buhari supporters' trademark: ABUSE ABUSE AND ABUSE. So your problem now is Jonathan's daughter's wedding. Apart from the fact that dignitaries attended the wedding what made it flamboyant? Any average business man at Alaba can spend more than whatever. The real cost of governance during Buhari's time is unquantifiable. It is in the mono rail that Lagos State does not have today. it is in the wonderful works of Mbakwe in Imo State that he truncated. It is in the development foundation laid in the old Bendel State (Edo and Delta) by Ambrose Alli that he messed up. Buhari arrested Nigeria's development if you don't know. You need to learn how to argue and make your point reasonably. Look for where you can vent your pent up frustrations. Ask your local government chairman and your governor what they have done (or are doing) with your money. They are closer to you than the President. VIOLENT AND ABUSIVE language can only increase your frustrations. |

Sibabasibaba1:witt My dear i'd let my response be short and witty. Go ask the victims of Bokoharam and the families of the slain victims of immigration scam to find a bucket to weep and vent their anger since Federal Govt isn't the number 1 person in charge of our welfare any longer. I see how much GEJ's six year rule have achieved- creating minds bereft of the feelings of real Nigerians on the streets. Tell GEJ to go to Borno and ask the people to vent their anger on their L.G Chairman. |
