The majority of Real Madrid fans want to see the La
Liga club accept Manchester United's £117 million
bid for Gareth Bale.
Spanish news website AS ran a poll asking fans
whether Real Madrid should sell the Welshman
should they get the chance to make a profit only 18
months after signing him from Tottenham Hotspur.
53.75 per cent of readers decided that Real Madrid
would benefit from selling Bale to Manchester
United rather than keeping him. While it is not an
overwhelming majority, it is still evidence that he is
not as popular at the Bernabeu as one would
presume.
Chance for a profit
Real Madrid paid a world-record fee to bring Bale to
La Liga in 2013, agreeing to pay Tottenham Hotspur
£86 million. The 25-year-old helped to win La
Decima last season, scoring the crucial second
goal in extra time against Atletico Madrid in the
final.
However, it appears the chance to make a tidy
profit is too irresistible for Real Madrid fans, who
may be wishing for Carlo Ancelotti to reinvest the
funds in a top striker like Sergio Aguero.
Record bid
Manchester United reportedly launched a £117
million bid last night shortly after reports surfaced
that Louis van Gaal had made him his top target. Ed
Woodward had recently claimed that the Red Devils
were in a strong financial position and could break
the transfer record in necessary.
“It’s difficult to deal in hypotheticals based on lots of
different things,” Ed Woodward told The Guardian in
July. “The reality is that we’re not afraid of spending
significant amounts of money in the transfer
market.
“Whether it’s a record or not doesn’t really resonate
with us. What resonates is an elite player that the
manager wants who is going to be a star for
Manchester United.”

The Spain defender joined Madrid in 2005, but
according to reports in Spain the Gunners have
been holding secret talks to sound him out.
The 28-year-old World Cup winner has stalled on
contract talks at the Bernabeu and Arsene Wenger
thinks he might be able to bring him to the Emirates.
AS journalist Manuel Esteban Manolete told radio
show La Goleada: "Wenger has called Rene Ramos,
the agent and brother of Sergio Ramos."
Ramos, a double European champion with Spain,
has made 21 appearances this season and was
even Golden Boot at the World Club Cup, outscoring
Cristiano Ronaldo.
Arsenal have struggled defensively this season with
only two senior central defenders - Per
Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny - with Nacho
Monreal, Mathiue Debuchy and Calum Chambers
having to deputise in recent weeks.
Wenger has also admitted he will try to sign at least
player in the transfer window.
Ramos has previously been linked with Chelsea,
Manchester City and Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho: It is IMPOSSIBLE for
Chelsea to sign Barcelona star Lionel
Messi
JOSE MOURINHO admits Chelsea have no chance
of signing Lionel Messi because of Financial Fair
Play rules.
By Jonathan Green / Published 24th December
2014
Barcelona value the Argentine superstar at £200m
but reports in Spain suggest the Catalan giants may
consider cashing in on the four time Ballon d'Or
winner.
But while Chelsea have been complying with FFP,
Mourinho dealt a Christmas blow to Blues fans by
insisting there was no way a deal could be struck.
"No I have no chance of that," Mourinho told BT
Sport .
"Because at this moment there is financial fair play
and with the financial fair play we have to follow
certain rules, certain numbers and we obviously
have no conditions to buy, as you say a ‘super
amazing player’ paid with ‘super amazing numbers’
that Chelsea at this moment we cannot do."
The news will also
disappoint midfielder
Cesc Fabregas who had
spoken of his desire to
link-up with Messi again
after leaving Barcelona
for Chelsea in the
summer.
Fabregas told Radio
Marca: "I wish! Why not?
I'd love that to happen.
"I'd be all for it. As a Barca man, I believe that
Messi deserves to retire at Barca for all that he has
given the club.
"He is a legend that has changed Barca history.
"But, as his team-mate and friend, without doubt I'd
love to have Leo by my side.
"This season Barca are Messi and ten others.
Messi has saved his team on many occasions."
