Christmas(eri Gwara) Na Orji Mbaise Celebration In Mbaise Nation by chimerase2: 8:20pm On Dec 25, 2014 |
Christmas celebration in mbaise imo state is not only on 25th december Christmas(eri gwara) which means 'eat back' Starts from 25th till 1st of january which coincides with the orji mbaise that is done every first of january. Due to how large mbaise nation is starting from 25th till 1st each communities celebrate their own christmas(eri gwara) according to their market days e.g orie, afor, nkwo, eke etc Now today 25th which is general christmas some communities have it as their eri gwara day where people and relatives from other communities come to eat, merry, share and meet their loved ones to celebrate their own christmas with them. Tomorrow being 26th will be the turn of ma community chokoneze to host our own christmas(eri gwara) then other communities where we have our loved ones and relatives whom we have not seen for many years will come and merry, eat, drink lots of ooh mpa then we gather during the evening for christmas show in the market square, be it watching of village league or watching of masquerades which is rare now and watching of magicians do their things etc Then next could be the turn of deputy speaker community same thing applied to other communities will be applied to the host community This is how it is been done till 1st of january where the mbaise nation rounds it off with orji mbaise some communities too celebrate their eri gwara with the orji mbaise where prominent men like ministers, governors deputy speaker him self, presidential representatives etc will grace the occasion. Share your own eri gwara experience if you are from the mbaise nation 1 Like 1 Share |
