Seun needed to buy a laptop that costs #500,000, he didn't have enough money and therefore borrowed #250,000 from his friend wale and #250,000 from his uncle John. Fortunately for Seun, he purchased the laptop for just #450,000 and therefore still had #50,000 with him. He gave #10,000 to Wale and #10,000 to his Uncle John and is now left with #30,000. Now he owes Wale and Uncle John #240,000 each. #240,000 + #240,000 + #30,000 (which is left with him) = #510,000 QUESTION: How did the extra #10,000 come in place since Seun had only #500,000 initially? Op, u wise o! C ehn! U ought not to add 240k + 240 + 30k. Rememba, dat 30k is inside dat 240 & 240 dat Segun is owing. So, d math suppose to be lyk dis; 240 + 240 + 20(10+10) = 500k. |

haibe: Wrong addition. You don't add what is owed to what is left because what is left is part of what is owed. Instead you add what is owed with what has been paid so it becomes #240,000 + #240,000 + #10,000 + #10,000 = #500,000 1 Like |

Having returned 10k to both parties; What you owed becomes: N240,000 + N240,000 = N480,000 Cash at hand + Cost price = What is owed i.e N30,000+N450,000 = N480,000 No extra 10k anywhere Qed! 1 Like |
