Ojukwu who was never part of the government was arrest while the corrupt Umaru Dikko and the party secretary, Uba Ahmed were allowed to escape from the same grips of the army and tight borders! The case of Uba Ahmed was even more scandalous, read what Soyinka had to say about this Uba Ahmed was out of the country at the time. Despite the closure of the Nigerian airspace, he compelled the pilot of his plane to demand special landing permission, since his passenger load included the almighty Uba Ahmed. Of course, he had not known of the change in his status since he was airborne. The delighted airport commandant, realizing that he had a much valued fish swimming willingly into a waiting net, approved the request. Uba Ahmed disembarked into the arms of a military guard and was promptly clamped in detention. Incredibly, he vanished a few days after and reappeared in safety overseas 7 Likes |

barcanista: You rightly noted that Ojukwu contested and lost. Therefore, he was not part of Shagari's government. If Buhari's intention was to punish corrupt officials at the time he overthrew Shagari's regime, WHY DID HE SEE THE NEED TO ARREST OJUKWU? 7 Likes |

barcanista: The problem with Nairalamd is there are too many half educated and unexposed young people, semi illiterates actually who have lost the power to research anything or think due to an inadequate educational system. A lot of them start ignorance exposing threads and spew trash unnecessarily. First of all, Ojukwu was not of concern to the Buhari Idiagbon regime at all. The biggest enemy they had was Umaru Dikko, the NPN strong man who had stolen money and was threatening to start a gov't in exile, there was later an even bigger enemy within the administration itself which we now know was Babangida.. Ojukwu himself had been out of the country in exile for years and was only invited back by the NPN gov't to boost their chances in the East against Zik. At the time Ojukwu came back to Nigeria, he was practically friends with everybody except funny enough, the Lagos State government that was sitting on his dad's numerous properties in Lagos. Ojukwu was a spectacle to behold and he attended Miss Nigeria contest as guest, fell in love with the winner, CC Onoh's daughter who became his wife. That was the Ojukwu we knew, a glamorous celebrity. When Buhari came in all politicians had messed up big big time and were very unpopular. The jailing of all politicians included Ekwueme Ojukwu, Pa Ajasin and Okadigbo who used to insult Zik in public. Akinloye and Akinjide ran to the UK. Most active senior politicians were in prison except Zik, Awo and Shagari who was put on house arrest. The Buhari regime came in as heroes to rescue the country and most newspaper articles were favourable. Umaru Dikko who was later put in a crate was like the Shekau now, a public enemy No.1 Please cure your delusion. The Buhari regime was not about Ojukwu and Ojukwu was not the main issue of the day. It was just an Hausa-Fulani civilian government being overthrown by Hausa-Fulani military officers. Pure and simple. 1 Like |

Adminisher: I wasted my time reading all the junk you put above without figuring out a single answer to the question the OP of this thread seek for. In case you did not understand the question, can i write it in a capital letter? WHAT WAS OJUKWU SIN THAT WARRANTED GMB TO THROWN HIM INTO JAIL FOR TEN (10) GOOD MONTHS MAN. Ojukwu wasn't part of the Government like you said, nor was there any investigation or evidence that proved he was corrupt before he was bundled and thrown into jail for ten (10) good months. Nearly a year without a crime. Like i have said and will continue saying, the only igbos that supports GMB presidential campaign are either for selfish interest or party affiliation. No right thinking igbo person will chose blood thirty jihadist like GMB over a clueless GEJ. 13 Likes 4 Shares |

One of the aims of education is enlightenment, and education doesn't necessarily mean going to school but acquiring knowledge. Just like the op, I have read about the arrest and detection of Ojukwu and others during That regime but I haven't gotten any substantive response to it and it will be a great benefit to me and others looking for answers if a response is given there this topic better be move to fp for more comments. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

Adminisher: Your lie is not adding up, did Buhari arrest all politicians? (both those in power and opposition). Ok let's assume he arrested every Nigerian who was a politicians, why did he put Shagari who was the head of so called rotten government in house arrest?? It is like coming up now, put Jonathan under house arrest while arresting Buhari (who have lost an election and friend of politicians like Atiku and Tinubu). I can't figure how the head of government was considered not corrupt and a man who is not even in the said government corrupt. Buhari should have arrested all politicians, if you prove your case, you go back, instead, few were given the freedom of house arrest, few were allowed to escape. 7 Likes |
