If you are looking to save some money on auto maintenance, you may want to learn how to do small repairs to your car. These repairs are simple and easy to do, and they can save you a fortune in future auto repair costs. Here are some repairs you can make yourself:

Changing Windshield Wiper Blades

Changing the windshield wiper blades on a vehicle is one of the simplest and quickest repairs you can do yourself. It is also one of the most effective, especially if you have been driving with worn out wipers. Nothing can cause an accident more quickly than low visibility. It is also a great cost-saver to do this repair on your own. Be sure to ask an attendant at the auto supply store if you aren't sure which size blade to purchase.

Replace Headlight Bulbs

Another inhibitor of driving visibility is a blown headlight bulb. You are also risking a traffic violation if you are caught without a functioning headlight at night. The good news is that this is a very easy fix that can be completed in a matter of minutes. The only thing you need to do is make sure that you have the correct type of bulb for your car. Remove the faceplate on the headlight and change out the bulb, just like you would do in a regular house lamp.

Changing a Fuse

If you have changed your headlight bulb and the light still won't work, you may have a blown fuse. Changing a fuse is a fairly easy task, but you will have to consult your owner's manual for some instructions. It will tell you what kind of fuse to purchase and where the fuse panel is located on your car. Many manuals will provide step-by-step instructions on how to change a fuse, but it is simply a matter of popping out an old fuse and putting a new one in its place.

Replace the Air Filter

You should replace your air filter every 15,000 miles or so; however, if you live in a dusty climate or drive on dirt roads on a regular basis, you may need to change it more often. Purchase the correct size air filter for your vehicle, remove the old one, and clean out the inside of the compartment. Put the new filter in place and you're good to go.

Change a Clogged Fuel Filter

One of the most important components of a vehicle is the fuel system. To keep it in good working order, you will need to make sure the fuel filter is not clogged. If it does become clogged, it can affect the function of your carburetor and the fuel injection system. Make sure you release the fuel system pressure before putting a new fuel filter on.

Doing your own car maintenance is a great way to save time and money. You can save hours sitting in a repair shop by reading your owner's manual.

Good points bro, but not every one knows the location of fuel filters in their cars, also not everyone would wanna tamper with their airfilter due to fear of damage to the MAP/MAF and associated components especially ladies driving complex modern cars.
