NIPOST IS AT IT AGAIN!.
Just about when I, and people like me, started to regain confidence in Nigerian Post services, something very annoying has started to give customers of this service ugly experiences and an urge to sort some other options.
I received a text on my mobile phone, as usual, that I have a parcel to collect at the Zaria post office. On reaching there, I was told to pay N500.00 for each envelope that that was a new development. I tried to inquire what the charge is for but had no good explanation. I had to pay N500.00 'cos I was in a hurry and the parcel had delayed. A week after, same thing happened and a man who appeared to be the manager or the head of a unit explained that the management was at his neck to collect this charge. I insisted for a receipt and they issued me one 'for bulk delivery'.
Pleas can someone who understands how this works explain what bulk delivery is in the post office terms? I only received small items in three envelops. they were registered mails that had been paid by the sender.
If we do not take care of stuffs like this early, maybe mails will begin to get lost once more without trace.

The same thing happened to me this morning. I got a text message on Wednesday that I have a parcel with them and that I should come with #500 for each so I decided to go after sometime but when I got to their office around 3:30pm, the lady at the counter told me they've closed for the day that I should call the number that sent the SMS which i did and she said "we've closed for the day now, we close by 3pm please come back tomorrow for your parcel" I was mad cause I took a cab to the place (#200) so the following day being today I had to leave early to the place before they will tell me stories but thank God someone was there to attend to me. Just imagine paying extra money for a phone case of $5 plus free shipping

I don't think it's legal, or should i use the word regulated. I was called to pick up a parcel from the onitsha post office. The lady that called told me to come with 500 naira. I got there, after signing for the parcel, I told her i had no money. She now told me she would let me go that one time and that subsequent times, i should be there aware of the 500 naira charge.

Secondly, no receipt is issued upon paying this money. I think it's just a way of 'paying themselves' for sorting the files and calling people on phone.
