My Collection Of Poems by Nobody: 4:45pm On Jan 21, 2015 |
I am neither a Poet nor a good writer but I love expressing myself the only way I could which is putting it down black on white because I am an introvert. 1. BROTHERS The same old marks on our arrows We used to hunt antelopes deep inside the forest of Gwoza Are now what I see in those arrows in the lifeless bodies, Rotten away in the furrows All around the street of Baga And you said we are brothers. I saw a bright light from afar, Shining brightly just like the old days at the front of the house of Alfa But they told me its been razed down by Usman Our same old gay and happy home Have now turned to a house of Kaffir But you said we are brothers You remembered when you Iyaye came to our Gidan? For my sister's hand in marriage? Your eyes were glittering then like gold because you are marrying your jewel. Yes, you always slaughtered a ram everytime she bore you one of your children. You beheaded her yesterday, so I heard For she is now a daughter of an infidel And you are still claiming we are brothers! Your Iyaye and in-laws has been killed. Our favourite forest is now my abode, I now sleeps on those lovely branches. Yes, lest I forget, Azeezat your beloved daughter, She has died from the venom of the deadly cobra. Yet you says we are brothers! I thought we share the same belief But yours is making me bereaved. Last I heard; you placed a bounty on my head, You want my head on a plate Everything is now in disarray But you said we are brothers! 2. SHE REFUSED We were young I will touch you! Don't touch me! I will hold you! Don't hold me! The dowry, my parents paid Yet they accepted! Bringing her to my house as custom required She cried! Because she refused. Lay on my bed She said no! handling her breast She shouted Oh! Yes because she refused. We are old. I am coming! She said come! Now she brags this is my child But she once refused! 3. I WAS DEAD Simultaneously, I was marrying my daughter off Also I was warming my new house Fully immersed in the euphoria of joy But I could also felt the uneasiness Deep through my marrow to veins Even though for the past eight months I have been feeling the better part of me departing To form another part in a strange land Yes I gave my daughter away in marriage But in that moment; oh that moment! Scissors in hand, ribbons already tied My shaking hands ready to cut it off in ecstasy All of a sudden it happened! The life in me evaporated Into that strange part in an unknown land I could see the despair in my wife's eyes Then my eyes fluttered open to see a lady in white "It is a boy" she said I broke into tears but she was smiling Because you now have a baby boy For my loss I was grieving And for your gain you were smiling Mysterious and funny I sound? But I tell you, I was dead. Copyright Marioking...for your own good do not copy!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Nice collections. I can't fathom the last poem . At first, I thought of a dying man then he metamorphosed into a newly born child. What's the message? Your second arrival ? 1 Like |

Tinkybabe: it's a tale of a new born baby. I was trying to fathom how the previous life of a newly born child was, hence my imagination that he was marrying his daughter off and also warming his newly built house and his after life was cut short. I thought newly born child were crying because they died from their former life. Just my fictions |

Nice piece. I love the poem with the refrain "We are brothers". I can really picture them as real as they are. Welcome bro. Sorry for responding late ( I didn't get the mention) 1 Like |

marioking: Hey hon, I'm extremely sorry for my behaviour, been so busy dealing with some stuff lately, including a loss. But I gotta say your poems are full of imagery, the scenarios can be easily imagined, and they're just beautiful and really interesting, cuz I enjoyed going through everything. Please keep it up! 1 Like |

Gone with the Dust I could sense her pain It was all written in plain Its all loss and no gain We couldn't even say hi again It wasn't meant to be this way! That paths that was once lovely Now holds rage in its fiery Even though I wished to say hi She wouldn't respond cos of jittery And it wasn't meant to be this gloomy! We met and it was all rosy My lips and hers always enveloped in kiss We thought it would all be blissy Sometimes life is such bitchy It wasn't meant to be this unlucky! We'd hoped it would last It was like love class Don't know it was all a cast It has now gone with dust Copyright of Omooba. 12/11/2015 |

WHERE AM I? The day is so quiet One cannot even hear the coerce sounds of those crickets Sobbing like a Muppet i throb on slowly like undertakers with heavy casket Birds are not chirping Cars are not moving Humans are not even at sight Not a single sign of life on site Head on hand While full of dread Standing alone Pacing in the lone road I could only muster some shouts WHERE AM I? Omooba2016 NB The full version of this and PEACE AT WAR will be posted soon |

Peace at war In my quest for Peace looking for Bliss i was met with war full blown and fiery one undaunted, i surged on your strength i relied on. O mother of life in wariness i stand before you naked, empty without strife even I have lost all clues where art thou O you daughters come back for your hut has scattered Wolves snarling Vultures hovering Carcass rotten atmospheres condensing People minding their daily routines. Nothing is more appealing O mother of life stand up to help your wards survive! before we start warring again for Peace. |
