A herbal practitioner, Suraju Ogunbayo, was among the suspects arrested recently by the Ogun State Police Command.

Police said he had been involved in obtaining money under false pretence, otherwise known in Nigeria as 419, and using human beings for money rituals. Also in the police net were other persons the police accused of armed robbery.

Ogunbayo, who confessed duping his victims, claimed he had prepared charms for pastors, imams, and even police officers.

The Ogun State Police Commissioner, Mr. Emmanuel Ayeni, told Daily Sun that Ogunbayo had duped many people. According to him, the suspect swindled some people of N131, 000 before the police got a tip-off and arrested him.

He explained that the detectives recovered different photographs, fake 150 dollars and 40,000 CFA and carved woods from him.

Ayeni disclosed that the command also arrested 40 suspected armed robbers and recovered stolen vehicles, arms and ammunition from them. Chuka Obade and members of his gang were also arrested.

Recovered from them were, mock gun and other items.

The CP explained that six robbery suspects were killed by policemen on patrol along Sagamu/Papalanto expressway. He said the suspects were already dispossessing motorists and passengers of their valuables before nemesis caught up with them.

Recovered from the suspects were, Nissan Sunny car marked, BM 709 KSF, two AK 47 riffles with the number 7538555, four locally made riffles, 49 live ammunition, among others.

According to the police commissioner, another set of robbers, numbering six, invaded a shop along Sagamu and robbed the occupants at gunpoint. He put the value of what the bandits carted away, at N317, 000.

The CP gave the names of the suspects as, Bucknor Dave, Jide Afolabi, Saheed Ashiru, Bashiru Kazeem, Tajudeen Akeem and Temitope Sanni.

One locally made gun, axe, iron rod and five cartridges were said to have been recovered from them’

Ayeni told Daily Sun that the suspects would appear in court soon.
