And just so you know, Mallam Fatori is bordered with Niger and not Chad. So, I'm wondering how Chadian troops tranverse all the to northwest of Borno and recaptured Malam Fatori. My take is that they took Boko haram unaware, thinking that they Chadian Forces will likely advance thru Baga or Keinuwa in the eastern part.

The military of Chad have reportedly reclaimed the Nigerian
town of Malam Fatori, Borno State, from Boko Haram
insurgents.
The yet unofficial information was provided by the BBC Africa.
According to the article, the Nigerian defence say they are
investigating.
The confirmation is expected from the Nigerian military authorities.
It should be recalled that Chad actively participates in the battle
against the militants.
On 17 January, Saturday, tens of thousands of Chadians rallied in the
country’s capital N’Djamena in support of their government’s
decision to assist Nigeria in the battle against insurgency.
Another gruesome Boko Haram bloodshed was launched in Borno
State over the weekend as the insurgents seized Monguno town and
attempted to capture the state’s capital Maiduguri, which attempt
