Barack Obama now considers the Taliban in Afghanistan a non terrorist group.

The downgrading of the Taliban in Afghanistan from a terrorist group to an "armed insurgency" is coming on the heels of Obama's landmark prisoner swap which saw 8 Taliban fighters swapped for one lone wolf US marine deserter- a clear departure from previous US policy of non-negotiations with terrorist organizations.

Obama's administration you will all recall was reluctant to classify Boko Haram and ISIS citing every excuse from human rights violations by both the Nigerian and Syrian security forces respectively. You may also want to remember that the Obama administration trained, equipped and coordinated Benghazi insurgents to both destabilize and topple Gaddafi. The same Benghazi region contributed the highest GDP of foriegn jihadis in Iraq and Afghanistan and which has continued to see more influx of volunteers into ISIS.

According to Barack Obama, terrorist organizations are those that do not serve their interests. America's continued frustration of Nigeria govt attempts at bringing to a halt of the insurgency in the north is hardly concealed with the US doing all it can to frustrate our efforts.

This is Barack Obama's change.
