Obasanjo Wants Amosun Back To Pdp by Handsome1: 12:04pm On Dec 27, 2008 |
•Amosun kicks, says no going back STRONG indications emerged yesterday that the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) governorship candidate in the last elections, Senator Ibikunle Amosun may be on his way back to the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] as former President Olusegun Obasanjo asked party leaders in the state to “receive him back home” But Amosun in a swift reaction told newsmen that he was not going to return to the party he dumped to contest the elections and that he has no such intentions. Former President Obasanjo had at this year’s Ibogun Day celebration yesterday told the huge gathering that Senator Amosun had come to him to ask for forgiveness and that he has forgiven him. Although none of the South-West governors attended the ceremony which hitherto was an annual ritual when Obasanjo was in power, there was an appreciable turnout of people including Amosun and his supporters. An obviously elated Obasanjo after asking Amosun to prostrate for him, raised his hands up and handed him over to the former Chairman of the party’s Elder Council in the State, Chief Sule Onabiyi asking him to “forgive him and receive him back home “Amosun offended me as a father. He offended me as a senior, but He has suffered enough. He is our son. We can’t deny that fact. He is also stubborn; we can’t deny that fact, because he’s a true son of Owu. When Amosun came here today, he knelt down and begged to be forgiven. And I have to tell you now that I have forgiven him because he is one of us. Are you going to receive him?” But Senator Ibikunle Amosun in a swift reaction told newsmen that he has no plan to return to the PDP He said he only went to Ibogun because that “is our ancestral home and when I greeted him (Obasanjo) he told me to prostrate and not greet him standing and that I did. |
