danbrowndmf: Luke 7:34New International Version (NIV) 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ What was he drinking that made people accuse him of being a drunkard? In John 2:1-11 what did he turn water into? Your guess is as good as mine. 2 Likes |

Is using the Internet biblical? Is using a telephone biblical? Is drying my clothes out under the Sun biblical? Is receiving wages/salary for wasting productive work hours(govt offices) on unnecessary church services at work biblical? And so many other dumb stuffs people ask. Common sense is always a luxury when it comes to religion. Personally, I do not take alcohol and this is not because some holy book asked me not to, but because of the damage I know heavy consumption can do to my vital body organs. Doing good and being morally upright should come naturally not just because one book says so with the fear of hell attached. 2 Likes |

Drinking of alcohol is not a sin, if u must drink, drink in moderation and don't become a drunkard becos u will harm urself. As christians we are not supose to judge wat is wrong or wright but live a respectful and orderly life style. |

danbrowndmf: Throughout the bible the Greek word translated "wine" is oinos, which was the common Greek word for normal wine, wine that was fermented/alcoholic. The Greek word for the wine Jesus created is the same word for the wine the wedding feast ran out of. So there was nothing like non-alcoholic wine during bible times, ever wondered why Paul said we not be drunk with wine in Ephesians 5:11? |

There is nothing like "non-alcoholic wine". the phrase is an oxymoron. If you check any bottle of the so-called "non-alcoholic wine" (from a reputable brand) you'll see it's actually labelled 'grape juice'. It's only Nigerians (in their hypocrisy) who call it "non-alcoholic wine". http://www.evasa.com/en/productos/prod_swell.asp?idfamilias=5 2 Likes

It is not a sin to take alcohol, but it is a sin to be DRUNK! but knowing that alcohol is highly addictive, you start with a bottle, and then it goes on and on, leaving you dazed and acting out of character. 'It is not for Kings to drink wine; nor for Princes to say, where is strong drink? Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the justice due to any that is afflicted' - Prvbs 31 vs 4-5. Christians are called Kings and priests in Revelations, So as a King you don't want to be using mind altering substances that will pervert your reasoning. Also in Ephesians you are admonished not be drunk with wine, but be filled with the Holy Ghost! Both the Holy Ghost and wine has the power to influence your behaviour, while the former will take you higher up to the Most High, the latter will take you higher to silly and irrational behaviours, health problems and financial ruin. |
