Nigeria risks widespread violence if postponement is considerd. Hope d plan is not to wait for widespread protests after postponement then use dat as an excuse for interim govt BS.

What's even vexing me is that FG is citing insecurity in the northeast as a reason to postpone the election as if they are going to solve the security crises before the proposed new date.
Re: INEC To Decide On Poll Shift Saturday by vigasimple(m): 3:40pm On Feb 06, 2015
I think there is a genuine concern and evidence that INEC may not be ready because PVC cards distribution is low at some states and regions that call into question whether rigging is already going on by disenfranchisement.

My own suggestions would be for the federal government to declare 1 or 2 days next week for all PVC cards to be distributed otherwise the election may hold and we may end up in court and crisis ensured.

APC are looking to win the election by any means necessary, and they don't care whether or not the country goes into flame. Remember that the slogan of the North is 'to make the country ungovernable for GEJ'

I am sure that APC and the North forgot that no person or region or religion has monopoly of violence.

SweetJoystick:
If the decision to postpone the elections come from the parties involved in the election the it's welcomed rather from PDP/GEJ who is scared of losing the forthcoming presidential elections........if they are performed excelently well, why the fear of contesting when your good works or records should speak for you.....Well, we know better, the reverse is the case, hence the panic

My problem is that most of the parties are either subsidiaries of PDP or some party executive can easily be bought. It a matter of trow some money around and hungry people run after it then the master control them.

If CAN can changed it position and do the bidding of money, then tell me how many people will stand another billion in front of them.

Osun state PVC collection rate for Aug. 2014 governorship collection =68% , yet election was conducted

Ekiti state PVC collection rate for june 2014 governorship collection =65% , yet election was conducted.

Over 70% collection rate already, No to election postponement. Military men to be deployed to the 3 states with high potency for insurgent violence, election must hold in all the 36 states, excluding lgas in the hands of BH.

Who are those that will be violent? Where will the violence take place? My friend be careful for what you wish! You might wake up one day in a refugee camp in ghana with a plate standing in line for food from the UN or WFP, only then will you realise that "there was a country" which you destroyed by yourselves.

We have an INEC that is prepared for election in your their dream! More than 20 Million PVC are outstanding, contracts for election materials were just awarded last monday (68.8 million units), you will have to receive them and distribute across the country within 10 days, you have 960,000 adhoc staffs to train in 10 days and you have card readers that have never been tested by INEC which they intend to use for the all important general elections.
My brother INEC had four years to prepare for this pool and now we are hearing all manner of stories! Jega has failed! Let him take more time and get ready, we are happy to wait! We don't want an election where anyone will contest the results! It will be crystal clear to the whole world.

Please, forget about this side, don't ever go there again- the whole world fully understand that Buhari is a brutal illiterate. A fail-out secondary school guy. A truancy. BREAKING: INEC to decide on poll shift Saturday

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has stated that it would hold a meeting with chairmen and secretaries of all registered political parties, and Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs on Saturday, to decide whether to go ahead with the general elections billed for February 14 and 28.

A statement Friday by Kayode Idowu, the spokesperson of INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, said after meetings, “the Commission will address a press conference to brief the nation on its decision with regard to whether or not the general elections will hold as currently scheduled”.

Mr. Jega had on Thursday briefed the National Council of States on the preparedness of the Commission to conduct the 2015 general elections.

He made a presentation titled, Preparations for the 2015 General Elections: Progress Report.

The National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, and Armed Services Chiefs also briefed the Council on the current security situation.

Mr. Jega had informed the council that the commission was in a better position to conduct the election at present compared to the 2011 election.

“Compared with the 2011 General Elections, for instance, our systems are definitely more robust. We believe that we are ready for the elections as planned,” Mr. Jega said.

Its quite funny you feel there won't be protests especially with the cloud shrouding the postponement issue as a ploy to favour the incumbent.
And concerning the stats you have given well I'm sure Jega was aware of all these before stating that INEC is ready for the polls.
20 million PVCs out of how many? Public holidays have been declared for a second time in some states to allow people collect PVCs,or are the cards gonna be delivered to peoples houses and shops? The only valid reason I see for any postponement is just logistics, pvc issue is just being overflogged.
