This Jona govt is a disgrace. But why are we like this in this part of the world? Why are we so desperate for political power?

Why do we like compromising all our institutions just becos of selfish interest?

How can professional security chiefs say categorically that they can not provide security for an election and they said that without tendering their resignations. Is that not the highest height of incompetence and dereliction of duty?

Are we not witnessing a new kind of coup in Nigeria at the moment? A coup against the wish of the people to self determination by an incumbent govt and actively supported by highly compromised security apparatuses.

All true democrats must stand up against the introduction of this new kind of coup in our polity. Because it is obvious that even if the election is postponed, the security chiefs may still come out to say they are not yet ready at the proposed 6 weeks time. Infact, they may even purposely allow the security situation to grow worse just to frustrate the elections.

GEJ's maladministration and ineptitude has allowed the security chiefs to loot millions of naira if not billions, and they would do anything to ensure he continues in power so that the status quo of non-accountabilty can continue. They know it that under a Buhari regime, they can't manipulate funds and even their performance sef. They know that under a Buhari regime, this their woeful performance at the war front will not be tolerated, that is the reason they will try and ensure GEJ comes back. But God is greater than them all, only God's will, will prevail.

May God help us.
You just hit the nail on the head. May u live long

Whether this election is held on Feb. 14 or is postponed by six weeks, GEJ is DEFINITELY going to be VOTED OUT by the ordinary Nigerians he ignored and neglected, as he pandered to the thieving elite and materialistic church leaders.

The only question now is HOW BIG the inevitable defeat of the clueless is going to be.

For the uninformed PDP urchins who are still incapable of understanding how GEJ has ALREADY lost the coming election, it is not that difficult to understand, and this is why;

1.Buhari is set to get even MORE millions of votes in the North than he got in 2011

2. The SW, for the FIRST TIME EVER, is now safely locked down for the people's general.

3. He (Buhari) is SURELY going to do MUCH BETTER in the MB, SS and SE than his performance in 2011.

4. While Buhari is going to IMPROVE on his performance of 2011 by getting MORE votes in his strongholds and and making inroads into all the other regions, GEJ on the other hand is going to do LESS WELL in his SS/SE stronghold than he did in 2011, and is also SURELY going to get MUCH LESS votes in the MB, NW and NE.

5. Besides all this, it is also a FACT that those who want to see an end to the clueless and incompetent adm of GEJ IN ALL THE REGIONS (including the SS/SE) are FAR MORE MOTIVATED and MORE COMMITTED to collecting their PVCs, and ENDURING all the hassle and risks of COMING OUT TO VOTE, than those who support the clueless and his PDP.

6. The greatest undoing of GEJ this time around is his CLEAR LOSS of the SW; only a person of pathetically low intelligence would fail to understand this.

Every past president of this great nation has their file of record either for good or bad which still speak after them. Gen. Babangida is forever remembered for June 12 which he will never have opportunity to correct again, also Jonathan regime can make another history for postponement or not allowing election to hold. I wish he understand how Banbangida wish he come back to aso rock to correct what happened in his time.

The preparations for this year elections began after the general elections in 2011. Are we saying 4years is not enough for FG to fix the security challenge in the country? PDP want BH to continue that is why the FG failed to do the needed...this is a rescue mission for PDP. It's a matter of time before Boko Haram is wiped off the face of the earth. If 4 yrs is not enough to prepare for election how can 6 weeks be enough. Registered voters is around 70m, INEC tried to give 45M. Last election was conducted with 35m voters.

so it either Boko haram end now or no election indefinitely. Is this the reason why they want to postpone coming election? do you think this menace would be fixed in just 6weeks? BIG LIE.
The problem in that region has not just started, what solution has been proffered by them? Now election is around, and seeing the willingness of the people to vote them out of power, they are using a situation they deliberately allowed to deteriorate as an excuse.

"President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday said various attacks by Boko Haram in Abuja were planned to extend to parts of the country with the intention of bringing down the nation.
He stated this when he attended the revival service of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement at its headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos.
“The idea of the group was to start from the centre of the country and then move to bring the whole country down,’’ Jonathan said."

Even if its just 30 as u claim, isnt that a large number? In an election whose winner is widely expected to win by narrow margin, 30 percent is too much to be disenfranchised.

IbnSultaan:
Twenty one Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have rejected a proposal to postpone Nigeria’s general elections billed for February 14 and 28.

In a vote conducted Saturday by the INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega, after he met with political parties and the civil society, 21 RECs said the elections should continue as planned while 16 others voted in support of a reschedule.

Nigeria has 37 RECs, each for a state and the Federal Capital, Abuja.

The outcome of the vote came as Nigerians await INEC’s decision on whether the elections are moved or not.

Civil Society leaders said Mr. Jega had told them at their meeting that the commission was under pressure to postpone the polls after all security agencies, including the military and the police, warned that they will only support polls held at least six weeks after the current dates.

Jibrin Ibrahim, a senior fellow at the Centre for Democracy and Development, CDD, in Abuja, who was at the meeting, said Mr. Jega told the meeting that security operatives told INEC that they were commencing a six weeks special operations against Boko Haram insurgents in the north eastern corridors of the country and would rather not be distracted by the elections.

Mr. Jega announced that the security forces also said the operations are due to commence on February 14, the date INEC had planned for the presidential and federal legislative elections.
Earlier, 17 political parties out of the total 28 voted in support of an extension.

The opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected any plan to postpone the election saying such calls are sponsored by President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling party to stave their imminent defeat at the polls.

It is not clear what the commission’s eventual decision would be with the latest voting pattern by the RECs.

Mr. Jega is expected to brief the media any moment from now.
