Bevista: No be febuhari again? Shame on you. You have chosen to forget that Buhari condemned the state of emergency in NE. You have conveniently forgotten that Buhari accused the presidency of being anti-North. You have forgotten that your general may be heading to jail if he's convicted of perjury. Keep pretending like you really think Buhari is a messiah. |

The only problem i have with all Nigerian youths calling GEJ names, saying funny things about boko haram is that: 1- they know nothing about politics neither do they know anything abot politrics. 2- they forgot that AU forces are joining Nigerian Army to fight boko haram. 3- they think the election is more important than to consolidate on the victory which have been coming on Nigeria‘s way since regional army joined in the fight. 4- they are practically being used by those clamouring for retrogresive CHANGE to disrupt the peace & energy of our GALANT SOLDIERS & that of our neighbours with their ignorance... Youths be wise...okay Forward ever for Nigeria... GEJ till 2019 4 Likes |

nagoma: I understand your pain. Now I must be very frank with you. The North has more role to play than Jonathan. Your messiah Buhari, condemned the emergency rule in the North east. He accused the presidency of ethnic cleansing. If you have forgotten, I wanna remind you and all the people that call Jonathan names, that Jonathan went through out the creeks without security to meet with Niger delta militants to negotiate for peace, when he was vp. The northern elders with the exception of a handful, have never condemned boko haram. The North is sabotaging itself. I miss Kano. Hope we succeed in the BE. |

Thinking out loud. So the election has been postopned...largely because the Army cannot guarantee security for the whole country while it focuses on Boko Haram. I guess it is for the best.....it may not look good if those pigeons decided to send a few bearers of good gifts to scatter a few polling centers for theatrical effect. And of course...rumors of arms movement. However, this leaves me with these questions/comments. First, what happens in six weeks time if Boko is not beaten? Does that mean the election will be postponed again? Does that mean that after may 29 we would have an interim government? Because if elections are not conducted by May 29....it could mean that the current government is in violation of the tenets of the constitution...unless there can be an emergency amendment to allow for extension of the term....which of course might not be recieved well by a section of the country....and may even be detrimental to the security of this country. Whatever happens....the elections must hold in six weeks time. No ifs and buts. Second, I find the antics of some PDP supporters who rejoice over the postponement of the election as disgraceful. It should not be an occasion for rejoicing....the postponement of an election. Rather....it should be an occasion for sorrow...and anger. It is obvious that our security forces have had serious issues fighting Boko Haram...and infact may be in need of serious structural reform. Indeed....I will go as far as to say that for our Army...the corruption and inefficiency chickens have come home to roost. These chickens must be sent to repose in the chicken pot...on high heat. Then there is INEC. It is really sad that INEC cannot effectively organize the distribution of voter cards in such a way that everyone gets one at least a month before the elections. If Jega must resign, as some say he should...it should be for not guaranteeing a fully organized election. He has no excuses...other than the failure of the govt too to adequately fund his ideas for the project of elections Nigeria. Even then....INEC should have done better.....and it is a reflection of the inefficiency of this govt that they have not done well enough. Indeed, the ultimate blame goes to the PDP govt. It is sad that so far, no one from the govt has apologized to Nigerians for the failure to hold elections as scheduled. So, PDP supporter....do not rejoice. This postponement is not necessarily to your benefit. It just shows the incompetence of agencies under this PDP led govt....and if PDP wins...they must clean up house. Third....we have become a nation of spiteful people. Even to the point that the electoral umpire has been dragged into the mess. Few days ago, someone respected and influential...a statesman, accused the electoral umpire...without proof...that he was in cahoots with the ''Northern Elite'' to make sure the election went to Buhari. (A Northern elite which has not been friendly with Buhari for some time). There have also been some unseemly abuse thrown at the person of the General....abuse which a lesser man would have taken umbrage at.Indeed...the honor of a man who has served his country times without number, both in uniform and out of it , is being besmirched everyday on the pages of some of the print media...and on the television. If indeed this is how we treat servants of our nation...then we are indeed a people without honour and sense of decency. And that indecency too extends to the official opposition. Over and over again, our President stands accused of being in cahoots with Boko Haram....for his own political benefit. He also stands accused of working to subvert the unity of Nigeria. He has been accused of certian crimes without any proof whatsoever. And all in the name of opposition. Indeed , my countrymen....if we cannot practice democracy without bitterness in this country....if we must lie in order to acheive our political goals....then we are not ready for democracy. We are ready for strongman rule.....because Mr Strongman will see to it that there is maximum peace by outlawing all your freedoms...especially the right to be spiteful.....in the name of peace. I know we do not want that....so let us all, in the spirit of the words of Mallam Waziri....practice politics without bitterness. Fourth, is the idea by some Southerners that if Buhari wins....they may have to seccede. Or may make things violent for the new regime. This is borne out of the belief that the North is responsible for the Boko issue (partly true). But...secession will not solve our problems....it would only make them worse. In 1967...we had a better argument for secession.(Indeed the July 1966 coup was meant to be the first step in the North secceding....but the British talked them out of it).Every part of the country produced. Now...agric reforms notwithstanding....we are no longer a nation of producers. We all depend on oil....and a secession of any part could lead to a violent war for oil...which would make our country a worsened version of Rwanda and Somalia.Indeed...I would argue that if Buhari wins...you still have your governors, and your LG chairmen, and your senators and representatives. Put them to work for you. The same thing for the North if Jonathan wins. You have your governors and LG chairmen, your senators and representatives. Put them to work for you. Let there be no repeat of 2011 or 1967-70. I am not going back there...and neither should you. Secession, and violence is the game of immature people. Let us be mature enough to accept defeat....and use what we have to make our regions/states/LG...work. And that starts, as I have said here many times....by getting Nigeria off oil dependency. Oil is the reason why we are in this mess.....and it is high time Rivers state became s shipbuilding and fisheries hub for the world...and Sokoto State became a solar energy and agro-allied leader. Oil does one no good....innovation and technology will save us. And will destroy Boko Haram. The elections have been postponed. All I have to do now is to wish Nigerians a peaceful election....and a mature and prosperous democracy. I hope and pray that whoever wins in March, we would be strong enough to do the right thing. Not the ego boosting thing. Thank you and good morning. 6 Likes |
