Defacement Of Campaign Posters; Political Miscreants Or Gestapo Tactics? by hermesprogidy(m): 9:34am On Feb 09, 2015 |
On my way to work this morning with some friends, I noticed that a two-sided Buhari campaign board had been vandalised (@PWD Bustop, Oshodi) one of the boards had been completely removed, and left with only the frames. On getting to 3rd Mainland bridge, I saw various campaign boards of Jimi Agbaje defaced (painted black). This sparked a lively discussion as one of my friends expressed outrage at what he saw and immediately put the blame on APC, he went ahead to suggest that this act could sway electorates away from APC. Another occupant of the car had a dissimilar opinion. He was of the opinion that this may have been perpetuated by PDP agents to elicit the kind of emotions my friend was displaying, he opined that it would be monumental stupidity on the part of APC if their local leadership endorsed such action as it is a no-brainer that most people would react the way my friend just reacted. That got me thinking. In the build up to the 2nd World War, the Germans employed a similar tactics before they invaded Czechoslovakia. They sent in SSS Storm-troopers dressed as (Czechoslovakian army officers) to kill German citizens in Sudentenland (Czechoslovakia) The Wermacht (German High Command) announced this to the world as Czechoslovakian act of aggression towards Nazi Germany and it was a perfect excuse to invade Czechoslovakia (which they eventually did). Looking at both cases, would you say it is the handi-work of miscreants, or a mischievous plan by either party to sway electorates to their camps? One can't put anything past either parties (though I think PDP is the more desperate party @ the moment) |
