The northern oligarch has a lot to answer for Boko Haram. Take for example the case of Abdullmutallab who is a child from a very privileged and influential family. Abdul was mentored by no other than the current Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. Sanusi, on his own part was found to be one of the architects and instigators of a sectarian riot in Kano during the Abacha regime. Sanusi was later imprisoned in Sokoto for 2 years before being exiled. Sanusi then proceeded to Khartoom, Sudan where he mixed freely with radical elements like Osama bin Laden. Sanusi also has another terror link with Ogueche, the mastermind behind the Maraba motor park bombings in Abuja. Ogueche fled to the same Sudan before his extradition was completed. 5 Likes |

lyntiffany: The piece is intended to showcase who are really behind the group and what motivates them. This is contrary to what the Obama white house wishes to present which is that the insurgency rose from a society plagued by poverty and corruption which is simply not the case. This stance by the Obama white house was to deflect attention from the insurgents to the central government thereby making it easy to castigate the Nigerian government. From all the rhetoric coming from Obama, one thing is clear and it is that the US will not assist Nigeria fight the insurgency. The US government has not only refused to assist us but has gone ahead to block any assistance from other countries willing to assist us. The Obana white house has also declared that they are handicapped to help given allegation of human rights violation by men of the Nigerian security forces. It is obviously clear who and what is behind this insurgency and the role of the white house can not be exempted. 3 Likes |

WombRaiders:Jonathans incompetence made Boko Haram what it is today. During the administration of Late President Umaru Musa Yar'adua, Mohammed Yusuf, the leader of Boko Haram was killed and their Ibn Tiamiyu Mosque in Maiduguri was burnt. |

WombRaiders:what do you mean by Northern elite? The erstwhile leader and members of Boko Haram shura council viz: Mohammed Yusuf, Buji Foi, Abubakar Shekau, Kabiru Sokoto, Abu Qaqa, Abu Zinnira etc were once Ali Modu Sheriff's boys before they went bersek, they were once on his paylist. Today, Ali Modu Sheriff is a friend to president Jonathan and it is under the administration of this same president jonathan that a fake cease fire was declared 1 Like |
