Is Obasanjo's Resignation Action Of A Callous Or Gallant General by nigerinstitute: 10:50am On Feb 17, 2015
Feb 08th 2015 we posted article titled "How Buhari plans to win the postponed election" with less views compared to our "how Goodluck plans to win the postponed elections" post. For those of you who read it you will note that we were the first to reveal this happening under the caption of campaign strategy "Increased talks with APC sympathizers and disgruntled PDP members to publicly declare their move to APC. Expect major PDP decampment within the next 2 weeks you heard it here 1st" Obasanjo's action falls in with this strategy

Is this the action of an inglorious General exiting the battle field when the war is at its most fiercest or is it that of a gallant General committing "Hari Kiri" by falling on his sword in the face of defeat. PDP are a party in disarray how silly of the Ogun PDP to announce belatedly Obasanjo's ejection from the party after he already publicly resigned. The commentary of many PDP members shows that his actions are hurting and likely to be a major dent to the party. Obasanjo says he wants to become a non partisan statesman. We think it is good that he choose this path as it would have been disastrous had he decided to join APC

The long standing rift between OBJ & GEJ shows GEJ lacks political savvy, he would have done far better embracing OBJ instead of Alamesiah convicted Money launderer; after all he wouldn't have become President without OBJ. Knowing his victory in 2011 was largely due to votes from SW he should have mended fences in this region, PDP can't hope to win in SW without the support of OBJ. Continued personal character assassination of OBJ will backfire for PDP they ought to try to belittle OBJ's exit stating that he was at the periphery of the party by his own choice and that the party has long moved on & further declare their inevitable victory in spite of OBJ's resignation, although it's doubtful this cause of action will wash with the electorate

Comments from the Defense headquarters shows that Nigeria's military top echelons are highly politicized & completely unprofessional. Obasanjo is a former military man but a civilian and former president his utterances and recent actions are political in nature. Our military hierarchy are a disgrace, no sense of esprit de corp, including the response of Defense Headquarters (DHQ) to Obasanjo's comments. They should stick to military matters & stay out of politics Military should never be allowed to make political statements in a civilian dispensation. Military are subject to civilian control but should notify civilians of their impartiality They have been too long in politics that they do not understand their place and should never make such comments. It shows the infancy of our democracy. Such officers engaging publicly are bring the military into disrepute and should be summarily dismissed, can you imagine the US military commenting on Senator Macain or Gen Colin Powell's Rtd political comments or the British military commenting on what General Richard Dannett Rtd says in his political comments on News programs. It is never done
