EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has won the African Player of the Year crown for the second year running.
The Togo and Arsenal striker picked up his award in Abu Dhabi along with £65,000 after beating off competition from Chelsea’s Ivory Coast forward Didier Drogba and Wigan’s Egyptian hitman Amr Zaki.

Manchester United midfielder Park Ji Sung has been named Asian Player of the Year.

Though i'm an ARSENAL fan but i feel Amr Zaki or Aboutrika should have been given the award,i guess it's because they played in local league.I think it's hightime we stopped using oyinbo league as a yardstick for this award.
Anyway,CONGRATS TO ADEBAYOR,i pray he stops wasting our glorious chances in front of goals,

Park Ji Sung missed at least half of last season.
he Asians prolly have the same bias we have in Africa.

Aboutrika shoulda won it.
Adebayor won nuthing last season besides scoring 30 goals for Arsenal
THIRTY GOALS that amounted to nuthing as far as club titles are concerned is as worthless as scoring NO GOALS.
CAF/BBC and whoever dishing out these awards should be locked up.

my points exactly, I believe the award shd be given to pple that contribute to football development in the continent,Hence ABOUTRIKA or ZAKI shd have won it.

CAF doesn't hand out awards until the very big award show that takes place during the first quarter of the following year of the year being considered. Drogba was on hand to win in 2007 and the award was done in Feb 2008 during the AFCON.

Now the only player of the year awards for African players worthy of mention is the one handed out by CAF and to some extent BBC.

The BBC award is due to be announced on Friday on their Fast Track program.

Adebayor was given the award by Lolly magazine

Aboutrika won the CAF African footballer of the year, Adebayor came second while Zaki came third
The awards will be given in Lagos sometime soon

I don't who's giving the award being quoted here. CAF and BBC are the most recognised and neither of them has announced their APotY winner.
By the way i see Adebayor winning CAF. BBC? Adebayor is the current holder and may also retain that.
