Don't get it twisted, we are sexual beings, hence there is no way the topic of sex can be eradiated. But the way young people talk about sex makes one want to think that there is nothing else to talk about.
As a guy, I know that there are girls that find you boring if you decide not to talk about sex or things related to it when chatting with them, especially when you are physically presentable.

Personally, I can think up issues as to why young people so much love to talk about sex, but hey, that's just me!
