Please I have a problem

My Father-in-law has been diagnosed with early stages of prostate cancer since last year and he has been on several medications and has been to hospitals in Port Harcourt (UPTH and a specialist hospital) and Lagos (Eko Hospital).
Last month test results showed that the ailment wasn't getting any better despite the painful medications which cost a quite a sum.

He has decided to try out Trado Medicine (against the advice of most of us), however he seems to be convinced about it.

Please i want to find out if any body has successfully treated Prostate Cancer and what method was used?
Is this Trado Option the best?

Why I'm sceptical is that the Dr. (I hope that's what they are called) first started with N3mil but later insisted that the least he will take is N500k. I found this a little odd coz professionals don't haggle over fees like market women. and the difference between his initial charge and the final charge is quite much which makes the whole arrangement suspect.

The man's name is Dr. Ama C. Ama and his hospital is located at No 10 Omuma Road, Overail, Aba, Abia State just incase anybody has had dealings with this man or used his medication before to give us a customer review.

or if there is a safer and convenient treatment (even if it requires flying him abroad - except India) for treatment.

Yes prostrate cancer can be cured via chemotherapy but i don't know if if naija doctors do it or not..

Prostate Cancer is very commonly and quite effectively managed in Nigerian hospitals by Nigerian doctors.

He wud have seen a specialist on that at UPTH and at Eko hospital. I believe they counselled him appropriately and gave him the various treatment options.

Usually, at the very early stages, radical prostatectomy is recommended. This is the removal of the prostrate and surrounding tissues in order to avoid the spreading of the cancer. This should provide "cure", provided no cancer cell was left behind.

If at the time he was seen, the cancer had past the early stages, then he would be recommended chemotherapy. This consists of pills necessary to suppress the growing cancer cells.

Additionally, especially at advanced stage of the cancer, orchidectomy -surgical removal of the testes- is done, to ensure maximum suppression of the cancer.

You must be counselled though that, except in the highly rare scenerio where it was detected at the earliest stages, the goal of, and expectation from, treatment should be to prolong life and improve quality of living, rather than to achieve total cure. Cancer has no cure, yet!

I do not know much about trados, but my knowledge of the pathophysiology of cancers, and going by international best practices, I do not think it is the way to go.

Price bargaining is not uncommom in Nigerian non-coperate private hospitals because of the peculiarities of our environment. I do not think it is expressly unethical.

Your dad's case should be handled by a team led by a Consultant Urologist. Ask if the doctor you mentioned above is one such doctor. If not, find one.

I expected his case to have been handled to standard at UPTH and Eko Hospital.
