Sorry for not taking pictures of when I was preparing it. Make una come join me. This delicacy is called Dan'wake and its popular among the Northerners.If you are in North and you have not eaten or tasted it,then you are missing. Danwake is a dish made from beans flour that originated from Niger which has been adopted across Northern Nigeria. It’s very filling and high in protein! Though I don’t know what it’s called in English, I would call it ‘Beans Flour Dumplings’. This is also one of my favourite Northern Nigerian recipes but it’s one of those things I have to crave for before I can eat it. Here’s how I like to make it and what I like to serve it with. Do enjoy! Ingredients 1-1 Lemon 2-2 knorr Cubes, 2 or 3 boiled eggs Yaji (ground Northern pepper to serve) 3- 1/2 Onion (to serve) 4- Sunflower Oil (to serve) 5- 1 Tablespoon Potash (kanwa) 6- 200g Beans Flour (if you’re serving one or two people, if more just double it up) 6- 300ml warm water 7- 1 Spring Onion (to garnish) Firstly, place your pan on the heat with water and bring to boil, fill up the pan about half way. Then in a separate bowl mix the warm water with the potash and add it into the beans flour slowly until it’s well combined. You need to have a nice thick yet soft consistency. You don’t want a runny mixture. If your beans flour is already mixed with ground baobab (Kuka) you don’t need to add any to the flour. If not you need to add about 3 Tablespoons. Mine was already mixed so I didn’t need to do this. Now the water should have been boiled by now and you should still have warm water with potash left. Dip your hands in then roll the mixture into little balls then throw them one by one into the boiling water. Keep doing this until all the mixture is finished then bring to boil. Make sure the heat isn’t too much. Leave it open and keep checking, give it about 10-15mins and voilà!! Done! Serve with Yaji, knorr cubes, boiled eggs, lemon and drizzle a bit of oil over the top and yuumm!!! Easy peasy guys! Bon Appétit!!!! 1 Like
