THE WEDDING TO DO LIST

After all the flush and frenzy of
being engaged. It is time to make
some important decisions. Find below a compiled a list of things to
do to make that day memorable.
Please add your comments,
contributions and questions.

1. WORK OUT YOUR BUDGET:
Determine how much you will
need for your wedding. You can
use a bottom up technique by
attaching realistic prices to all
your wedding expenses or a Top
down technique by fixing an
amount based on your financial
ability. Another way is to ask
someone who recently had their
wedding or a wedding planner.

2. ASCERTAIN YOUR GUEST
CAPACITY: At the early stages of
planning, you should determine
the number of guests you will be
expecting at your wedding. You
can do this by Making a head
count or an approximate of
guests you will be expecting at
your wedding.

3. HIRE A PLANNER: Due to the
complexity and stress of DIY
weddings hiring the services of a
wedding planner is necessary. A
planner has relationships and
insight about vendors. A planner
saves you cost and the stress of
planning your wedding yourself.
A wedding planner has expertise
in organising weddings so you'll
be enjoying from a wealth
experiences.

4. SECURE YOUR DATE AND VENUE:
As early as it is possible secure
your date at the venue you intend
to use for your ceremony/
reception.

5. BOOK YOUR OFFICIATING
MINISTER: As you begin planning
your wedding pencil down and
meet with the officiant who
would be presiding over the
ceremony. Many Minister have
different rules and expectations
from would be couples.
Determine what they are and
ensure you comply with them.
You should also find out if they
have been licensed to conduct
weddings.

6. PURCHASE YOUR WEDDING DRESS
AND ACCESSORIES: Your wedding
dress has a voice. She would
speak to you as soon as you see
her. So allow enough time for
shopping and fitting your dress.
You should select a dress that suit
your style and body. Like I said
this dresses have a voice. You
should also go shopping with an
idea of what your dress would
look like so you don't get carried
away by any sales man/woman.
You should also purchase
accessories that fit your style.

7.PURCHASE YOUR BRIDES MAID
DRESSES (GROOMS MEN SHIRTS)
AND ACCESSORIES : Pick dresses
that suits your bridal party.
Ensure that you combine your
wedding colors properly on the
dresses and grooms men outfit.

8. MAKE RESERVATION FOR YOUR
OUT OF TOWN GUEST: Make hotel
reservations for your guest who
are coming from places other
than the state where your
wedding will be conducted. You
can pick three (3) hotels at
different price range close to your
ceremony and reception venues
from which your guest can
choose from.

9.PURCHASE AND SEND OUT
INVITATION CARDS:
Ensure you
send out your wedding invitation
cards not later than 3 weeks
before the D day. Have your card
carry your wedding colors. Vital
information about your venues,
dates, timing etc should be clearly
stated on your cards.

10. PLAN YOUR HONEYMOON: Make
all plans for your honey moon.
Book flights, make hotel
reservations, make visa
arrangements, car pickup
arrangement etc.

11. BOOK AND MEET WITH YOUR
VENDOR: Source for reliable
vendors (caterers, decorator, DJ,
baker, stylist etc) to cater for your
wedding. Make sure they come
highly recommended too. If you
are working with a wedding
planner this shouldn't be difficult.
Make appointments with your
baker. Allow a long lead time for
your baker.

12. RESEARCH FOR AND PURCHASE
YOUR WEDDING BANDS: You can
look up different designs online
or from your wedding ring store .
In purchasing your rings make
sure you allow for long lead time
for resizing and engraving your
rings.

Re: Bride's Club House - Come In And Lets Talk Weddings by Nobody: 7:39am On Feb 26, 2015
(13). OBTAIN YOUR MARRIAGE
LICENSE: This is dependent on
who would be conducting the
wedding. Is he licensed or not? If
your officiant is recognised and
licensed you can skip this aspect.
If he isn't then you should go to
your Local Govt office to start the
process. This should ideally take
about three weeks if you are
getting married in Nigeria.

(14). PURCHASE SOUVENIRS,
BRIDAL PARTY GIFTS AND
FAVOURS: It is always good to
pick up gifts that are unique but
useful. you can assign someone
else to handle this or go in the
company of a trusted friend or
family member. Your planner will
also help here if you have one.

(15). DELEGATE SMALL WEDDING
DAY TASK: You should delegate
small wedding day task like who
keeps your personal effects. Who
is responsible for the ring. Who
should be in charge of the gifts
you will receive and things like
that.

(16). MAKE TRANSPORT
ARRANGEMENTS: you should make
transport arrangements for you
and your guests. Determine
before hand who is going in
what car.

(17). ALWAYS CONFIRM AND
RECONFIRM APPOINTMENTS, DATES,
DETAILS ETC: You must always
confirm and reconfirm with
everyone involved in your
wedding to avoid any unpleasant
surprises. Your planner will make
this burden a lot lighter if you
have one.

(18). REMEMBER TO SAY THANK
YOU: At the end of your day
remember to say thank you to
everyone. You can send out post
dated text messages to say thank
you to family, friends and well
wishers. You can also ask your
planner to help you with this if
you are working with one.

Did you find this helpful? Please
post your comments, contribution
and questions.

TOP SIX (6) WAYS TO REDUCE YOUR WEDDING BUDGET

Congratulations you are now engaged. We know you are excited and can't wait to start planning for the big day. With each passing day however, the task of planning becomes overwhelming and your wedding budget seems to sky rocket. You are thinking you will end up broke or in debt even before the Wedding. There is really no need to panic, you can have a beautiful wedding ceremony that is within your budget. Here are our top six pointers to reducing your budget yet having a great wedding ceremony.

1. REDUCE YOUR GUEST LIST: More people imply more expenses on food, hall, drinks etc. It is a wedding ceremony and not a "wedding carnival". You really don’t need the whole “world” in attendance.

2. USE TIME AND DATE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE: Try wedding on any other day than Saturday. Fix the timing to your advantage. Try having your engagement and white wedding conducted on the same day.

3. GET A GOWN AT THE FRACTION OF THE REAL PRICE: You can explore other alternatives with your wedding gown. You can hire a wedding Gown, buy a less expensive but beautiful brides maid dress or do a ‘buy back’ with your bridal store. This way you get your dream dress at a fraction of the price.

4. USE AN E-INVITE: With an e-invite you totally eliminate/reduce the cost associated with using the regular printed invitation cards. The e-invite can be designed by you or a graphics designer. You can have your e-invite sent to your friends via BBM , face book, whatsapp etc.

5. USE ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS: Considering the size of your budget, It will be wise to buy/rent silk or artificial flowers. The artificial flowers are a lot cheaper than the fresh garden flowers. Some bridal stores and decorators give them out for hire too. When using artificial flowers request for those that come already arrange by a florist.

6. GET A WEDDING PLANNER: One advantage of using a planner is that it is the planner’s job to ensure you get the Wedding of your dreams at the lowest cost possible.

We hope you found this useful, please leave a comment.

TOP 10 THINGS MOST BRIDES
FORGET
Your wedding day is one day you
do not want to forget the
important things. Here is a
complied collection of some
things most brides forget on,
before or after the "grin" day. We
hope you find them useful and
your day goes smoothly.
1. MAKING YOUR DAY AFTER
PLANS: What will logistics be like
after the wedding. Will you be
going for you honey moon
immediately after or your new/
old home? Will you be passing
the night after at parents or a
hotel? Whose car will you be
going in? If you would be
travelling immediately after,
remember to pack up all
essentials (passport if needed)
weeks before the day. If you will
be spending the night at a hotel
ensure that all bookings are
made before hand and that your
night bags are packed and ready.
You will need to make
arrangements for car service too.
2. GRABBING SOMETHING TO EAT:
Ensure you have something to
eat the night before the
wedding, the morning of the
wedding and mid way into the
celebration ( just before the
reception begins). Have
something to eat no matter how
little, don’t get married on an
empty stomach. Your Maid of
honour can help you with this.
Ensure you inform her before the
“D “day.
3. SAYING THANK YOU. Remember
to say thank you to all those who
contributed to making your day
memorable. Write out your thank
you note as you design your
invitation cards. You can send
them as a text, a hand written
note or as an email. You can
post-date them so they get
deliver from the day after the
wedding
4. ASSIGNING A POINT PERSON. It
is not easy to get through the
wedding day responsibilitie s
alone. Remember to assign a
“point” man who can assist you
by running minor tasks,
preparing for emergencies, and
ensuring that you remain well-
fed, hydrated, and at ease. The
point person may be a close
friend, a brides maids or a
relative.
5. PICKING SOMEONE TO TAKE
YOUR THINGS HOME: Remember
to choose a person to take your
gift and any leftover food, booze
or cake home. Choose someone
you can trust and let them know
about their responsibility. If
you’re changing out of your
gown before you head to your
hotel room, you’ll need a person
to take it home, you don’t want
to leave it behind! Make sure
there is a hanger and a garment
bag on hand (the one your dress
came with will do!)
