In the spirit of the current fad, I have decided to juxtapose Slumdog Millionaire
with another film, this time PAN'S LABYRINTH.

Far Fetched I hear you say. . . .au contraire

Well, both films combine two nominally irreconcilables, the fairytale and all its notions
of sweetness and good overcoming evil, alongside naked dark violence. The naivette of
childhood against a backdrop of the harsh poverty ridden slums of Mumbai as in Slumdog
or the wanton violent realities of the Spanish civil war.

What do any fans of both films think? I am sure I will be hearing from one particular forum member.
