Ubuntu comes in two major versions - Dektop & Server. There are other flavors too like KUbuntu (for KDE users), EduUbuntu etc. Now if you downloaded the Desktop version which has a GUI just like Windows 7, 8 etc then that's perfect but it does not come with Servers like Apache, MySQL or PHP included.
