Amefrica: Another terrific example - now your dad will need to send more money, this is money that is going to exit the economy as opposed to remaining in circulation. Less demand for labour and services in the borders those that are poor will be thrown into poorer times and those better off will start to suffer. Nobody wins in this dangerous game theyre playing. 989900: This will be difficult, because it's hard to see what the continuous motivation if for the government to rubbish the naira to this extent. They're doing it to enrich themselves when they plunder the foreign reserve. When NOI was asked what happened to the FR she said the money was distributed to the governments, since when was this standard practice? She has indirectly told us that the government simply plundered the reserve. 1 Like 1 Share |

jayplae: Forget the statistics thrown at us by Madam Okonjo Iweala. All those economic stats are fake. Just as the mirage report shown as the NNPC audit form. There is no economy that can stand with the monumental corruption taking place under GEJ. The wastage running into billions of dollars must have an effect on the economy. The currency is the true indicator of the health of a country's economy. It is almost 4 Ghana cedi to a dollar and N215 to a dollar. SMH. 1 Like |

Ymodulus you spoke well but can you please explain practically how the dollar to naira policy can be stopped. Should the dollars be given to states and the fg directly or what exactly? |

Some years back, I used to argue that all these parties are the same, election is only a change of baton between top looters. But now, no one needs to tell me that the federation can never have a worse administration than this. Look at the security, education, economy... sectors, it's so sad. Whether you like, vote for GEJ again, as for me and my household, we will never be suffer any lack. 3 Likes |

Godwin Emiefele and NOI policy is odious nor ostentatious. He firstly introduced 65naira deductions on other banks ATM which against one of the strategy to reduce customers in the banking hall. Now the niara has fail to compete with it counterpart. If the idea is to strength exportation and reduce the rate of importation most of our policies are fitfull if the Ogas @ d Top have brown envelop. 1 Like |

And more poverty to Nigerians, have u been to market lately? Prices of goods have increased while our salaries ' income ' remain the same, now we buy less with the same basket we have in the past that enable us to get more. / There is no need apportioning blame. US dollar is up against a basket of currencies. Euro is not fairing any better. It could be 1:1 for Euro vs. US dollar in the nearest future. Some countries may get hit harder than others especially poor nations like Nigeria (one-eyed man among the blind--Africa's biggest economy indeed). It is what it is. CBN intervention will only make it worse. Let naira float in the open market because Nigeria does not have the financial prowess to intervene effectively. The most CBN should do is verbal interventions to shake out speculators until they call its bluff and then it will intervene--surprise factor. After few months of this cat and mouse game, speculators will let go and naira will start to appreciate. And talking about Okonjo Iweala and the statistics of her imagination, I quote ipsissima verba, "Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are more pliable[flexible].”― Mark Twain. “There are three types of lies -- lies, damn lies, and statistics.”― Benjamin Disraeli There you have it \ 2 Likes 1 Share |
