I am a doctor and can tell you that there are two types of nurses, those who are nice and those who are not. Unfortunately, the nice ones are much fewer. No beef, just my personal experience 5 Likes |

When I was in secondary school, there was a very mean nurse that students were afraid of. Thank God she never attended to me. Because of her, a lot of people were scared of becoming ill 1 Like |

The fall of naira to dollar is enough to make any one angry... Let's hope they fix the economy soon. Before I forget the hot sun may also be a contributing factor. |

OP, not all nurses are rude so don't generalize. Some patients and their relatives too can be very annoying and rude. And you don't expect the nurse not to react negatively sometimes. I'm not trying to justify the rude attitude of 'some' nurses. But some mannerless patients deserves some tongue-lashing from the rude nurses. 2 Likes |

Rexhandsome:This is because you guys are simply too lazy to do the right thing by reporting them to their job ethics committee, hence the attitude - I don't take any attitude from any public servant . If you harrass me with an attitude I'll tongue lash you to the point of committing suicide and report you to your boss after escalating it too let's see who's going to lose at the end of the day. No time for any frustrated fellow running into my life and create two minutes chaos - I ain't letting you go scot free, after all he who fights should also expect to sweat. Op report her immediately . 1 Like |

I don't think it should be generalized.. I did a surgery in a private hospital last year December and guy the nurses were awesome. Especially, the one that shaved my private area (back & front). Initially, i was jittery but when i saw their professionalism, i gave up and the experience was beautiful till i was honorably discharged. However, i can only speak for the nurses of this particular private hospital. 4 Likes |

Rexhandsome: 1,Overwork....the average Nurse is overworked and stressed. Especially in govt hospitals. I have been in hospitals where Madam Nurse is on call 24/7. And let's be honest....we do not have enough nurses for the entire country. 2.Lack of facilities. Take the patient that is in chronic pain. Overseas....they have pain management down to a tee. In Nigeria...ouch. The poor Nurse has no facilities to manage the patient properly...and it is very easy to feel helpless. 3.Training...you know...they are supposed to train you to communicate with the patient in Nigeria....but they don't (Same for doctors too). 4.Patient's relatives are scared , frightened and confused by their relative's illness.(My mum spent some time in hospital last year....so I know the feeling). And they take that anger out on Nurses and other medical staff. Fuelling the annomisity. 3 Likes |
