What You Need To Know About Business In Hong Kong And China Important Tips by spymybox: 11:00pm On Mar 03, 2015
Hong Kong is a home to a huge number of small and big Trading companies and dealing with them is often a lot easier than their counterparts in Mainland China.
Buying from a Hong Kong based supplier certainly do come with a set of benefits that is not to be expected when purchasing from suppliers in Mainland China. To begin with they are much easier to communicate with and the product knowledge is often much deeper than their Mainland counterparts.
Chinese manufacturers are still focusing on a “make to order” business model. This means that they don’t have an ongoing mass production but rely on their customers to provide them with clear (and realistic) products specifications. This includes, but is not limited to provide the supplier with clear product specifications can result in receiving products that are so bad that they are not sale able on western markets.
This is where Hong Kong traders come in. They are in general much more likely to ask the rights questions and understand your instructions than a supplier vice comes based on the Mainland. It would be fair to assume that better service comes with a higher price, but I cannot not say this is a pattern I’ve among Hong Kong suppliers.
Hong Kong and Mainland China boost each other’s economies and the two have good economics relations. The Hong Kong economy is characterized by low rates, free trade, and less government interference. Mainland China is Hong Kong’s largest trading partner and source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). The economy of Mainland China is more dependent on manufacturing .In recent years, the Mainland Chinese services sector has started to pick up. However, the share of services in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is much less than that of developed countries like the United State and Japan and also than that of developing countries like Brazil and India. Agriculture constitutes around 10 percent of China’s GDP while it is negligible in Hong Kong’s. Hong Kong in many respect is seen as a gate way to China for those who are interested in doing business on the Mainland or accessing Chinese stocks or investments. Hong Kong is also a preferred destination for listing Mainland Companies as the Chinese stock market are more conservative.
