Job Description

Assist in building and managing a cohesive team of travel writers across the globe.
Must be in tune with the creative aspect while balancing it with the commercial aspect of the business, by ensuring value in the work produced.
Assist Content Editor in layout and appearance of articles, which may include duties such as artwork, design, photography that meets standard print and digital standards and requirements, and compliant with Afro Tourism editorial review/policy.
Source and produce material for publications, as well as understand the special considerations for writings on the Web and the wide variety of devices that can access the Internet.
Must be up-to-date on current happenings and be well informed on a broad range of subject in addition to travel and tourism.
Ensure to upload content on the website as at when due.
Writing copy for article summaries useful for both print and digital media platforms for the Company.
As a content manager, the Sub Editor will bring best practices in Web content to building and maintaining high quality content that is clear, accurate, and comprehensive.
Responsible for content materials for print and web publications, which includes development, design, production, organization, prioritization, presentation, evaluation and analysis.
To ensure the commercial viability of both print and digital media.To edit copy, written by writers, to remove spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.
Write headlines (using keywords) that capture the essence of the story or are clever or amusing.
To manage developed content publishing calendar that will help ensure that there is a steady pipeline of content for subsequent future publishing.
Coordinate with the Marketing team on a regular basis to ensure commercial and creative effectiveness of the published content.




Desired Qualities

• Bachelor’s degree in English Language, Mass Communication or Journalism.

• 5 years relevant work experience with a sound track record in Editorial or Journalism fields.

• Minimum 2 years of editorial experience or Web-related content experience.

• Proven ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.

• Computer acumen is required on been able to use contemporary cutting edge social networks and software programs.

• Excellent skills in MS Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Basic knowledge of HTML and experience using Content Management Systems a plus.

• Basic understanding of SEO a plus.

• Passion for quality. •Enthusiastic. • Strong sense of humor. • A love of and feel for language
