Lebanese Assaults Fct Frsc Boss : Produces Police Id As Driver's License, Car Particulars by nwosas(m): 4:48am On Jan 13, 2009 |
For the timely intervention of onlookers at a scene of a ghastly motor accident along Wuse/Kado expressway, Abuja, on Sunday the FCT Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Nseibong Akpabio (MON) would have been beaten to a stupor by a Lebanese, Mr. Tony Abou Ghazaleh. It was like an action packed Nollywood film when to the dismay of everyone present, Mr. Ghazaleh who claimed to be a member of PCRC, obviously angered that a road block was mounted at the scene of the accident by the FRSC, bounced heavily on the national award holder, Mr. Nseibong dragging him by his uniform, removed his beret and threatened to sack him and his team members from their jobs after an argument ensued between them. Trouble started when a team of FRSC members led by the FCT Sector Commander mounted a road block at the scene of a motor accident which occurred at about 10pm involving a BMW that failed its brakes and sped to the other side of the expressway, tumbling severally after hitting and uprooting a street light. No life was lost. In order to clear-up the remains of the badly damaged car, a road block was mounted. But this was certainly an obstruction and a delay to Gahazaleh who was driving a Peugeot 307 with registration number FH769 ABC (ABUJA). Despite the several sign cautions, the Lebanese only managed to stop after almost running into everyone standing by the road block. Following the incident, Mr. Nseibong had demanded for Gahazaleh's driver's license and his car particulars. But instead of presenting the documents requested for, the Lebanese arrogantly flaunted an NPF harmonized membership I.D card with No. 14565 which he claimed was issued on June 12, 2008 by the Nigerian Police. He boastfully dialed a number from his handset while pacing, bragging and threatening to sack the Sector Commander and his team from their jobs, if they delayed him any further. However, after about 10 minutes, the already raging Gahazaleh unleashed terror and anger by descending on the FCT sector commander. He dragging his uniform and removing his beret. He was to start raining blows on him when those gathered intervened. Speaking exclusively with Daily Sun at the scene of the incident, Mr. Nseibong condemned the assault describing it as an aberration and blatant insult on the entire FRSC. He wondered if such could ever happen in Lebanon while also questioning the rationale behind issuing NPF harmonized ID to a foreigner. Gahazaleh who was yet to calm down told Daily Sun that, "I will make sure I deal with these people. They certainly do not know their jobs. If there is an accident, so what? Is that why they should put road block on this side of the road? This is stupidity! I have told them, if they delay me any further, by not given me my Police ID, I will deal with them ruthlessly." Speaking further, he said: I am not ready to answer any further questions from you (referring to Daily Sun reporter). All I need to do is to make some phone calls and all of them including the so called FCT commander would lose their Jobs." Efforts to reach the Police P.R.O to confirm Gahazaleh's claims were not fruitful as we could not reach him on his mobile line. |

Do Nigerians have any sense of respect and pride for themselves at all? Any way when you go to Rome you are expected to do as the Romans do, he came to Nigeria saw that lawlessness and disregard for constituted authority is what is the order of the day and decided to participate in it. Nigerians taught him what he just displayed. |

When Nigerians dont know the right thing to do,wont foreigners come and teach them? But who is this leba, guy? Why make such noise even if he could place a call through for the guys to loose thier jobs? He should be taken in and questioned irrespective of his status. He studied Nigeria so well, He knows he will go scotfree! |

RICHIE BOI: Come to think of it, if you do that, the Nigerian police would actually brutalise you to a pulp and not the Lebanese man. |

The man does have a point though. Why mount a ROAD BLOCK at the scene of an accident? What in the world were they checking for particulars for? The police ought to have been redirecting traffic, not checking particulars. lol |

Kobojunkie:Point of corection, it was the Federal Road Safety not the Police. It is their duty to protect the safety of road users. If you know the road, it is an expresss road and if a car obstructs the road like it would in the case of an accident, they would have to clear the road to protect other road users from ramming into the car and causing another accident. He asked for drivers licence not particulars, which is part of their duty as road safety corps. |

RICHIE BOI: This is what boggles my mind about "internet thugs". Lol aight. Dude, you are still alive and at this age of the internet, why not try and contact the newspaper that brought out the report and get the details of the Lebanese dude. You wanna know what the result would be? The Nigerian Police would - Take your wallet and all you got, then they’ll assault your pride by choking you, stomp you, Pistol whip you, and in fact if you really are as tough (as you prove to be on the internet) they’ll not just touch you but "end" you…straight-up, dumb fool. |

aisha2: Well, I understand that you, unlike me, do not confuse or call them all the same but you are yet to provide a rebuttle to my main point. What is the use of mounting a Check point at an accident post? Asking for driver's license /particulars is the question here, Why? Why not mount a check point at a point where there are no accidents? PLease read the main point in the post that you responded to. Not give me a lecture on what words to use instead when the main message is completely ignored. Safety in this case could have simply required them moving traffic along alternate roots, not mount yet another road block to check "particulars/drivers licences". |

Kobojunkie: Why are these guys getting people's support even though they mounted check points at the wrong spots? This is not even patriotism any longer, it's more of cultism now. Support them whether they're right or wrong. Asking for driver's license /particulars at an accident spot? These lot need to be retrained. |

Roflmao!! I knew there was a reason to all the attack. Now we know this one is just anti-arab and so there is no point trying to reason with him. LoL. We seriously need re-Education in that country so people understand where to draw the line when it comes to what to accept/not accept from these civil servants. |
Re: Lebanese Assaults Fct Frsc Boss : Produces Police Id As Driver's License, Car Particulars by SkyBlue1: 6:39pm On Jan 15, 2009 |
Kobojunkie: You could argue from the road block issue, but are you seriously trying to defend the reaction an officer got from the lebanese, being beaten up and all? I mean, ? |
Re: Lebanese Assaults Fct Frsc Boss : Produces Police Id As Driver's License, Car Particulars by Kobojunkie: 6:40pm On Jan 15, 2009 |
Sky Blue: Read my post. Did I ? Or are you trying to inject that into my response? I am not sure where I offer a defense for the chaos between the man and the officer, so how did you come to that? |
Re: Lebanese Assaults Fct Frsc Boss : Produces Police Id As Driver's License, Car Particulars by SkyBlue1: 6:44pm On Jan 15, 2009 |
Kobojunkie: I apologise if i injected such indirectly. However with regards to the road block issue, it states that such was mounted in order to clear up the road. It did not say officers were asking all drivers for particulars which you seem to assume, unless i misread the article (quite possible). It says the particulars of the lebanese was asked for after he confronted the officers. Is that so irrational? We don't know how bad the accident was, wether there were parts all across the road and hence wether a roadblock was warranted, do we? |

Re: Lebanese Assaults Fct Frsc Boss : Produces Police Id As Driver's License, Car Particulars by Kobojunkie: 6:57pm On Jan 15, 2009 |
Yep, I think I may have misread the post. Not sure if the man attacked before he was asked for his particulars though. But like I said, I in no way commented on the attack itself, only that police, or in this case FRSC, ought not to use that as a reason to check particulars. |
Re: Lebanese Assaults Fct Frsc Boss : Produces Police Id As Driver's License, Car Particulars by Nobody: 10:12am On Jan 16, 2009 |
Kobojunkie:Kobojunkie, I live in Abuja, and i know that road, its an express road, the aim of setting the road block in the scene of that kind of accident is to prevent other cars from running into the car that had the accident while they tried to remove the car from the scene, like the writer explained. The Road Safety is an organization that deals with saftey of raod users and so am sure when they heard they was an accident, they came to do their duty and prevent more accidents. If you read the post you will see that they put up several road signs to warn users of the accident and the raod block to clear the raod. As for asking for the Mans drivers licence, if you read the main post you will see that they asked after the guy had started misbehaving, the poster said despite several road signs the Lebanesse Man almost ran over people by the road side, in my interpretation, he almost caused another accident which will make any rpad safety officer demand for your licence to ensure that you are a registered driver, who is capable of reading road signs and obeying them. Hope the lecture is not too much |
