There are 3 major things that normally stalls the update.
a)your phone being rooted
b) having Cwm recovery as opposed to the stock recovery
3) uninstalling system apps that the update needs or wants to update
So either or combination of the above reasons could affect your update.
Some are mild in which the update will fail but won't brick your phone while others do brick your phone.

Solution is to unroot your phone if you're rooted, Revert back to stock recovery if you have Cwm recovery installed and/or reinstall any system app(s) you might have uninstalled.

So best thing is to update as soon as you get your device before starting your root and custom ROM adventure.

Well I successfully unrooted one of my phones with factory reset. It's a tecno phone. Maybe infinix is different, I dont know.
