Why Jonathan Will Get A Red Card In Yoruba Land And Fall by jonathan12345: 3:00pm On Mar 08, 2015
The Osun chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has said that it will assess President Goodluck Jonathan not by his promises to them, but by their experience with him in the last six years.
What Jonathan Has Done To The Yorubaland

“That experience is the most painfully degrading that the Yoruba nation has ever had in the last half century. President Jonathan cannot, therefore, expect to be rewarded for this crime against the Yoruba people”.

The party said this in a statement released by the party’s Directorate of Publicity, Research and Strategy at the weekend.

“The sheer neglect of the Yoruba people by Jonathan in the scheme of things was a display of sordid ingratitude and contempt for a people who did the most to help him become President “, the party said.

“If in the last six years alone, Goodluck Jonathan has down-graded the Yoruba from the first three positions to below the 15th in Nigeria, either in political or civil service structure, and, in particular, in Nigeria’s ratings of expertise and valued contributions to the country’s development, then he does not deserve, and will not get the Yoruba vote this time around.

“All his promises to the Yoruba people are empty and deceitful. Our people not only know it, they feel it and they will act appropriately on March 28, 2015”.

The party’s spokesman in Osun, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi, who signed the statement, described, as “sadistic” , the treatment meted to the Yoruba people by Jonathan’s administration, who, having downgraded them to below the 15th position in Nigeria, “also went ahead to starve virtually all Yoruba states controlled by the APC of their legitimate and constitutional funding in order to humiliate the people and stifle development in their area”.

Oyatomi continued: “For such a President to now crawl about in Yorubaland, seeking their votes to continue in office is nothing short of insulting the intelligence of the Yoruba people. That is aggravated insolence.

“Jonathan will pay a price equal in magnitude to his deliberate crime against the Yoruba nation; for nobody pokes a dirty finger in the eyes of the Yoruba people and gets away with it. Jonathan will get the red card in Yorubaland, and he will fall.

“The party said that since Jonathan became comfortable in his position as President – largely through the efforts of Yoruba intellectuals and political leadership – the President has been so negatively disposed to Yoruba that his Federal Government did practically nothing of significance to encourage the sympathy of the Yoruba nation.

“It is therefore a wasted effort for the President to be frantically seeking the support of Yoruba traditional leaders who already know how bitter their people are against Jonathan,’ the APC said, adding that ‘Yoruba people can see, feel and taste the deceit in President Jonathan’s promises. They cannot trust him after the humiliating treatment of the last six years of Jonathan’s Presidency”.

It will be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan was in company of notable chieftains of the PDP, the National Chairman of the party, Adamu Muazu, the Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro and other PDP chieftains visited the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade,on Saturday March 7.

What the yorubas do not know too well is the deep hatred the average ijaw man has for them and the itsekiris. Jonathan is an ijaw man therefore cannot behave any different from normal ijaw's disposition towards the yoruba man. All ijaws want to ensure is the complete de-emancipation, marginalisation and political/economic subjugation of the yoruba people. This policy has been on and carefully implemented since the beginning of GEJ administration till date. If he is reelected the yorubas would suffer a great deal more. Remember, asari threatened to destroy the whole of yoruba land should GEJ loose the election.
GEJ believes with money he can conveniently buy the entire votes in the sw. He is in for a shocker. The yorubas have endured enough and are not prepared to bear with this anylonger. The day of reckoning is fast beckoning.

I am not an Ijaw so not speaking for them but the image you are trying to create does not hold water. Yes there has been historical distrust between the Itsekiris and the Ijaws as well as Urhobos and other tribes but this can hardly be translated to deep hatred for yorubas. Someone that hates you so deeply as you portray can not come and marry your daughter no matter how beautiful she is. Many Ijaw men have Yoruba wives including Chief Edwin Clark, his brother the poet and novelist J.P Clark. The mother of the present Governor of Bayelsa state Seriake Dickson is a yoruba from Ijebu. I can mention so many of such union which would have been impossible if your assertion is true. Asari Dokubo has made some disperaging comments about the yorubas and almost every tribe but he is not speaking for the Ijaws nor Jonathan. The disparaging comments made by former CBN governor Sanusi Lamido about the Yorubas does not mean he is speaking for northerners.

You should try and canvass for votes and support for your prefered candidate without wipping up ethnic sentiment which will do no good to anyone please.
