THE INHERENT CONTRADICTIONS IN PDP:

The PDP Governors Forum held what they described as a Stakeholders Interactive Session in Lagos on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Below are just a few of the litany of the inherent contradictions one observed from the comments by some of the governors.

1. Governor Sule Lamido labeled 5 of the G7 PDP Governors that decamped to the APC traitors, describing treachery as the worst sin where he comes from. Meanwhile, Governor Mimiko, who depended largely on the support of the defunct ACN (now a part of APC) to reclaim his mandate from the PDP, only for him to make a 180 degree u-turn and join the same PDP was seated right behind him.

2. Governor Babangida Aliyu questioned the validity of same 5 governors' argument that the PDP lacked internal paarty democracy as a justification for their decision to decamp. He argued that other people had to be crushed for them to emerge but when things no longer favoured them, the decided to leave the party. Now, if this is not a clear admission that the PDP is indeed undemocratic, I don't know what else is.

3. Governor Akpabio accused the APC of being responsible a light outage that happened at least 3 occasions during the event, perhaps because it was happening in a state controlled by the party. But the question is, which party is directly responsible for the provision of electricity via the PHCN for the past 16 years?

4. In his usual faux pas, Governor Fayose of Ekiti State tried to make a jest of President Obasanjo's phone call to the then PDP candidate, Umaru Musa 'Yar'adua, where he said, "Umoru, are you sick?" (twisting his voice to sound funny). He then went to add, "what happened afterwards?" and concluded by saying that is responsible for the mess we are now in. One can just imagine how uncomfortable President 'Yar'adua's in-law and Kebbi State Governor, Sa'idu Dakingari, who was seated right there would have felt!

5. Governor Fayose also accused the APC Presidential Candidate (born in 1942) of being a former military dictator who cannot change his old ways. He also described him as being too old to rule, while conveniently forgetting or ignoring the fact that Governor
Jonah Jang of Plateau State (born 1944), who is only 2 years younger than Buhari and is also a Senatorial candidate in the coming elections, must have been fidgeting on his seat!

6. Perhaps in response to Fayose, Governor Jang, who was also a military Governor, admitted that he took part in truncating democracy. He, however, quickly added that he has since changed and is now a democrat. This is greatly at variance with Fayose's assertion that a leopard can never change its spots. But then, may be Jang, Nyako, Oyinlola and others, who all shed their kakhi to become PDP governors (the last two left to join APC) and others like David Mark, Magoro, Ogbeha and many others who became PDP Senators can all change their ways while, for some rather inexplicable reasons, Buhari simply can't!

7. Governor Imoke of Cross River claimed that if a voters fingerprint cannot be read by the Card Reader after the card has been read, that voter will not be allowed to vote. This is far from the truth because a procedure has since been agreed with all registered political parties egarding how such people will be allowed to proceed and vote. It's either the governor's party failed to properly brief him and others in the PDP Governors Forum as to the decisions reached, or he was simply being mischievous and economical with the truth.

8. Gov. Fayose in his bid to malign Buhari said his Mother who is over 70 years old wears Pampers (I wonder how his Mum feel about this statement), and Gov. Jang who is over 70 clapped when this statement was made. Gov. Jang apparently forgot his age when he clapped, or he may just have been confirming he wears pampers too!

By and large, what baffles one most in all of this is the ease with which these guys feel very comfortable while they're deliberately distorting the facts and churning out these inherent contradictions in their bid to confuse the voting population as we approach the 2015 general elections.
