A Nigerian Group - Nigerian In Diaspora Integrated Project (NIDIP), protested the execution of two Nigerians by the Indonesian government yesterday in Abuja.
The group, after their press briefing in Abuja yesterday, moved in protest to the embassy.
Below is the content of the letter that was presented to the ambassador of Indonesia to Nigeria which was received by Luyfi A, the 3rd secretary of the Indonesian Embassy.
The Ambassador Indonesia Embassy 4, Salt Lake Street, Off Gana Street Maitama Abuja- Nigeria PROTEST AGAINST THE EXECUTION OF NIGERIANS
We strongly protest and resent the execution of our Nigerian nationals by the Indonesian government for drug related offences against the numerous pleas for clemency by the Federal Government of Nigeria and other well-meaning countries and personaties world-wide
We state for the uptenth fire, that death penalty especially by firing squad in uncivilized, barbaric and does not serve any usual purpose to humanity.
We are particularly irked by the defiance and insensitivity of the Indonesian Authorities to listen to the pleas of the good people of Nigeria and our government to save the lives of our offending Nationals and others in reciprocation of the mutual friendly relationship existing between both countries
It is on this note that this body- Nigerian In Diaspora Integrated Project (NIDIP) hereby register it displeasure of this development and appeal against a repetition of this re-occurrence in the future.
Please accept our warmest regards
High Chief (Hon.) Dr. Caro Nwosu President
