TWENTY SECONDARY SCHOOLS SET TO BATTLE FOR FAGUNWA LITERATURE PRIZE Twenty secondary schools both public and private schools are ready to battle for this year Yoruba Literature award recently named in honour of the Late D.O. Fagunwa, a foremost Yoruba Writer and reknowned author of Aditu Olodumare, Igbo Olodumare, Ireke Onibudo, Irinkerindo Ninu Igbo Elegbeje and Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmale. Category of the awards are as follows: Fagunwa Prize for Yoruba fiction , Adebayo Faleti Prize for Yoruba Play, Afolabi Olabimtan Prize for Yoruba Essay and Akinwumi Isola Prize for Yoruba Poetry. Winners of each prize will be announced on the 21st of March 2015. There are lots of consolation prizes ready to be won alongside Certificate of Participation, Certificate of Achievement and Merit will be givn to winners and outstanding students. Wole Adedoyin Converner – 08072673852 FOURTH EDITION OF FAGUNWA DAY SET TO HOLD ON 21ST OF MARCH 2015 Fagunwa Day is the brainchild of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers. Now in its fourth edition. This year’s edition will be done through a new outfit (Fagunwa Literary Society) of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers solely dedicated and committed to Fagunwa’s School of Thoughts. 2015 edition of the programme promises to be an avenue for showcasing works of the late sage (D.O. Fagunwa) and Yoruba Language and Literature. Prominent and Important personalities in Yoruba Literature and Language are expected to grace the occasion. The programme comes up on the 21st of March 2015 at the Art Theatre of the University of Ibadan at exactly 11:00am. Twenty invited secondary schools are ready to participate in this 2015 edition. Fagunwa Day is a literary day set aside in honour of D.O. Fagunwa. And to test the abilities of secondary school students in the area of Yoruba Literature and Language. Other aims are to encourage writing and reading in Yoruba Language among some selected schools and to give out awards, recognition and reward outstanding young writers of Yoruba expression and promotion of reading culture. Abubakar Imam Literary Society is an initiative of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers aim at promoting Hausa Language and Literature through the Literary works of the Late Abubakar Imam, a foremost and renowned Hausa Writer.
