This post is very funny. When Hyundai Tucson came out brand new in 2008, it was selling for =N=1.7 million. I remember this, because a few of my colleagues wanted to buy it, unfortunately the first batch sold out in record time before it got to their turn, so they had to deposit their money with the Indian company that imported the Tucson back then, in order to get the first option of picking from the 2nd batch, once it arrived.

The tokunbo model could not have cost up to that amount. Now, you are here offering a used registered 2006 tokunbo model of the same Tucson for =N=1.4 million. Do the maths, my friend. That price will not fly! undecided

I think what you should consider is how much the tokunbo of that car is right now. if you check online, for the price of non accident of that car in the U.S currently you would get it for like $6000-$7000 that is minus cost of shipping and clearing (p.s don't forget the high price of dollar and the increase in cost of clearing as well). That is current fact, I don't know about the story of your friends buying the car brand new in Nigeria for N1.7M (If you ask my opinion I strongly doubt that to be true), and if you make your own personal research of the brand new Tucson right now it would be around N3M Plus rough estimate, but what i know of is the current price of Tokunbo right now which is what i have given you.

After all that as been said and done, the price i quote here is also negotiable and there are different factors that dictates the prices of Used cars, condition of the car, urgency of sales, maybe the seller needs the money or he is isn't pressed to sell hence not desperate to let it go for just any price.

Please do not compare a US hyundai tucson with an Europe tucson which is often the base model.
US model have higher standard specs and the price vary.
Cars depreciate faster in Nigeria due to bad roads and poor log book history. The owner may just be greedy or you are trying to exploit. whichever it is. But i think a used hyundai tucson should not sell more than 1m at max.
its not toyota,honda nor nissan

This car was bought from U.S. not the European models with 4 plugs. This comes with V6 Engine and this is an American Specs.

The Last Price as of Today is N1.3M

with 1.6m i can get the tokunbo. so will rather go for tokunbo at 1.6m than a nigerian used for 1.3m

Bros, there is no reason to doubt the fact that my friends bout the car at =N=1.7 million. Or do you want me to post a copy of the receipt issued to them here on nairaland before you can believe it?

If you are still in doubt walk into the Hyundai office on Adeola Odeku in Victoria Island as well as the one on Ajose Adeogun and ask the Indian managers how much thy sold the first batch of Tucsons ever imported into the country. You would learn a lot from their responses. shocked

Finally, as newer models of a car are released, cost of the the older dated models fall in price. Also, prices of used cars differ from one state to the other even within the US. shocked

You cannot compare the price of a fresh tokunbo car imported from abroad that is still in solid condition that has gone through foreign MOT checks, with that of a used car that has been driven through our pot-hole ridden roads, fixed with tokunbo spare parts or coupled with poor maintenance culture in Nigeria.

Both cars have gone through two different lifestyles and changes. Their prices should reflect this, accordingly. undecided

bottom line is prices of used cars are not fixed, they vary and the causes of the variation determine the price. I don't have to start sharing how many cars have sold above their market value (used that is).
