The Nigeria government has slashed electricity tariffs in the country by 50%, an official announced. The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 17, by theNigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). NERC Chairman, Sam Amadi stated that the new tariff will take effect from the end of March. “The Commission has been listening to consumers’ complaints and taking full account of the impact of the high tariff on consumers and the Nigerian economy,” Amadi said. “Therefore, the Commission has reviewed the basis of the MYTO 2.1 assumptions and has determined that it is inappropriate to transfer to consumers collection losses that are controllable by the DISCOs (distribution companies),” he added. It's not about praying... It would been better, if they left the electricity tariff where it was and slash the fuel or pump price because 90% of our day is ran with generators... if you suppose this say Hi! or you don't say Ney!... these people are telling us this in a way they don't think we are understanding it. so 10naira fit commot from fuel... so NERC fit commot 50% before now? why have they not done it since way e come be say na Election time them come dey reason am? |
