Characteristics Of Pre-engagement Period (part 1) by mayorsweet(m): 4:17pm On Mar 19, 2015
EMOTIONAL FEELINGS:
"But if they cannot contain, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn" (1Cor.7:9)
Emotional feeling is influenced by nature and age. There are people who are very emotional and worry about many things while others are not. Older youths are more emotional about the issue of marriage and getting engaged. They experience occassionally erotic/sexual feelings described as 'burning' in the above scripture. They are often conscious of their age and feel it is time to start moving to the next level in life.

ANTICIPATION:
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven" (Eccl.3:1)
Pre-engagement period is naturally characterized by silent anticipation and anxiety in looking forward to finding a life partner. There is also the thought of getting engaged to somebody in God's will and beginning the step of promotion in life to future marital status. Most times, this feeling is not advertised until it gets to a climax when some older youths get into discussing regularly about it. If you are passing through this stage in life, don't get worried, it is a natural process.

INFORMAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Some young men sometimes find themselves in informal relationships with ladies in a kind of undefined friendship. Such is another experience of pre-engagement period. This type of relationship is often unhealthy because it can be assumed by observers as courtship. The individuals involved may also assume it as courtship. When an individual in this informal relationship is led by the Holy spirit to a different life partner, he or she leaves the other partner jilted and broken hearted due to unfulfilled expectation. Informal relationships before engagement must be wisely handled. Such relationship should not be too deep or close to prevent wrong assumptions of engagement
