When a president is getting closer to the reality of a likely defeat at the polls, he most likely begins to look into the past and ask himself some questions. For President Goodluck Jonathan, these questions would likely be the following:

1. What if i did not appoint JEGA? I could have still made do with another umpire less independent-minded and more loyal to this government and we will not be in this situation we find ourselves today. Nobody will be talking about card readers.

2. What if i had swallowed some pride and held back the decamped PDP governors? Kano would have been a battleground for me today backed by the governor. Amaechi would not be dolling out funds to enable Buhari penetrate my strongholds. Even the dissatisfied masses cannot effect a revolt or rebellion without backing from a section of the elites

3. What if i had appointed someone else as CBN governor and not the former CBN governor now Emir? $20 billion dollars wouldn't be missing today, at least not to the hearing of the public.

So many questions would be running through the president's mind as he makes a last ditch effort to salvage what seems to be a lost re-election bid. Feel free to add more "what ifs" and thoughts that might be running through our president's mind
