Our mind can make anything believable, so it’s
up to us to question our B.S.
(Belief Systems), the stuff that has been
handed down to us by our parents, peers, or
culture.
Here are 9 lies you can let go of:
1) Everybody is doing better than me. We are
all living, coping, learning and growing. Nobody
is immune to life’s vascillations, so there’s no
benefit in comparing ourselves to others.
2) Life is hard; you’ve got to struggle. This is
a popular one that is often handed down from
our parents. Of course, it’s a lie. We don’t have
to live a conveyer belt lifestyle. We can make
our life what we want. Pain is inevitable, but
suffering is optional. We only suffer when we
can’t let go, move on and create something
new. What do you love to do? Do that.
3) Money is everything. Wrong. When you’re
old, all that’s going to be left is your memories
of the people you loved and your experiences
with them. Invest in that.
4) You should be married (by a certain age).
None of us have to get married or have
children. Instead, we have to do what
resonates with our heart space.
5) More degrees equal more success. We are
taught that education will create a career, but
that’s not true. Studying is wonderful. It opens
doors and opens your minds. But a degree is
not needed to live your dreams.
6) If you don’t have a job, you’re useless. It’s
not true, because you can create your own
work. You can collaborate with people and
develop your vision. When you do this, your
passion becomes your job.
7) You’re no good if you don’t have the perfect
body. How many of us go on diets just to try
into an image that has been manipulated by
advertisers? You have to have a body shape
and size that is authentic to you. We aren’t
supposed to look the same. We’re supposed to
look how we see ourselves in our minds at our
highest level.
cool There is a limit to what you can achieve.
There is no limit. We are infinite. There’s no
need for us to rest on our laurels. We can keep
creating and expanding, and we have more and
more fun.
9) You have to have it all figured out.
Enlightenment is knowing how much you don’t
know. Explore possibilities. You must
continually let go of the old if you want to keep
learning more.
Keep giving yourself reality checks, so you can
avoid believing these and other popular lies.
Peace.
