President Goodluck Jonathan stated yesterday that the Federal Government will oppose any challenge by the Boko Haram terrorists to take over be in command of of any town or village within the country.
The president stated this at the PDP presidential campaign rally in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
The president who said the Federal Government is dedicated to ending the insurgency, expressed happiness that Yobe is presently liberated of the terrorist sect.
“As I speak, I am so happy to announce that Yobe has been freed of Boko Haram as all territories earlier under the control of the sect members have been recaptured by our able troops and we will henceforth resist any attempt by the sect members or any group to take control of any of our territory again.
”It is unfortunate that our brothers and sisters have turned mad against us and have left us with these sad memories”, the president said.
He showed sadness that Boko Haram members have been causing mayhem to innocent people and destroying various communities stressing that such era is over.
President Jonathan asserted that his administration is dedicated to improving the lives of the people despite the actions of the insurgents and listed areas of interference in the state to include; the beginning of the Great Green World, GGW and other efforts in fighting desert encroachment that will create enabling environment to farmers and pastoralists in the state and beyond.
The president, who said he has set up a federal university in the state to bring university education closer to the people, nevertheless urged the youths to make the best use of it.
He called on the people of the state to vote en-mass for the PDP pointing out that the party will consolidate on the gains of democracy thereby creating enabling environment for farmers, civil servants and businessmen alike.
