What we call corruption in Nigeria is not really corruption per se but rather embezzlement, a fancy word for stealing. Corruption in developed countries generally refers to and is punished as bribery, nepotism/favoritism compared to embezzlement which is generally punished under theft or embezzlement.

That's the point Jonathan tried to articulate but Nigerians are too hungry or stupid to understand such intelligence. They would prefer to listen to a half-mad, semi-literate, near senile, jihadist puppet that when u pull its string, its says cworruption. That's all he can do. He can't fight it. He doesn't even know what it is. In all areas of problem-solving whether medical, technological, financial, the first thing to do is identify the problem as accurately as possible and then solve it. That's what Jonathan has done. And that's what Jonathan, using technology and sound, accounting practices has been and will keep on doing. But Nigerians are too stupid to understand such an intricate point, they attack the messanger like Socrates and Galileo were. Jonathan who is a phd holder, a professional academic cum politician like Obama, a true philosopher-king, they call him clueless. Sad.

Yeah i got dat point too but its so unfortunate our people lacks understanding, they understanding nothing yet they are the loudest. Calling a thief "corrupt" sugar-coats the act of stealing so its better we call a thief a thief.

You are completely wrong. Evidence of Lack of research.

Corruption Refers to the abuse of bestowed power or position to acquire a personal benefit. Corruption may include many activities including bribery and embezzlement. Refer to wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption

Embezzlement is the act of dishonestly withholding assets for the purpose of conversion (theft) of such assets, by one or more persons to whom the assets were entrusted, either to be held or to be used for specific purposes.[1] Embezzlement is a type of financial fraud, e.g. a lawyer might embezzle funds from the trust accounts of his or her clients; a financial advisor might embezzle the funds of investors; and a husband or a wife might embezzle funds from a bank account jointly held with the spouse. Refer to wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embezzlement

Get Your facts right! Corruption is a very serious crime and should carry the same penalty as child abuse and rape!

The fact that the criminals are in public office means that the money is at their disposal, it is entrusted to them for specific purposes, ON TRUST, but they betray the trust of Nigerians by converting such money into personal use. It is a higher form of stealing so it should carry more prison term than stealing.

Now tell me, how do you see a friend whom you ran to in time of need, and instead of helping you out, he instead uses the opportunity to maybe sleep with your wife, all because you trusted him? It pains more than adulterer whom you didn't know that sleeps with your wife.

That is the truth about corruption
