Original Hausa Names And Thier Meanings by Realgana(m): 4:34pm On Mar 22, 2015 |
Before the advent of Islam to Hausaland,Hausa people name thier children just like other Africans i.e they name them base on how they were born, thier conditions at birth, situations on ground and other factors. Islam came and change many things,Hausas starts given thier children Arabic names and 'Hausanise' them.Dont be disappointed if I tell you that names like Audu,Sani and Habu are all Arabic in origin but Africanise by the Hausas, just as names like Lasisi,Kamoru,Gani and Bakare are all Arabic in Origin but 'Africanise' by the Yorubas. These days, unlike the Yorubas who give thier children multiple names at birth, the Hausas always give thier kids just one name and it is always Arabic, they may acquire other names while growing up. Without wasting your time, lets look at the original Hausa names and thier meanings, some have gone extinct while some are only used in the villages. Auta-Last Born. Duna-Dark in complexion Jatau-Fair in complexion Kande-A girl born after the birth of many boys. Yelwa-Born at the time of abbundance or wealth. Barau-Living son of a woman who has lost many kids at birth. Tanko-A boy born after the birth of many girls. Ana Ruwa-Child born while it is raining. Damina-Child born during rainy season. Rani-Child born during dry seaason. Gambo-Child born after twins. Kyauta-Gift. Sodangi-Love by all family members. Bahago-Lefty Kauna-Love Magaji-Successor(Male) Magajiya-Successor(Female) Cindo-A Child born with more than normal fingers or toes. Corrections and additions are highly wellcome. Dont mind my 'gbagauns' because I no go school. 3 Likes 1 Share |

You are wrong a bit. Those name that you said were or are arabic are actually black people's name not arabs. Arabs took our name, culture and even religion and arabidized them. That religion we call Islam now is not Islam, it is what i call mohammedian by a man call musylimat who stole the personality of Muhammad after He passed away. Who told Adam is name? Why did the bible use the pronouns "us and our" 'let US make man in OUR own image'? Why does the Quran always use the pronoun "WE" to describe ALLAH? The only names that is not ours are names like scott, bush, stone, fisherburne, hook, clooney etc Every other names have their origin from the Black people. BE CONSCIOUS, WAKE UP. YOUR FIRST-SELF IS ETERNALLY ALWAYS AWAKE IN YOU. Realgana: |

You would be foolish to believe straight on. It will be very wise if you possess an opened mind; Think about it! Realgana: |
