I was at shoprite in Apo yesterday there was a power outage. It lasted for about 5 mins before I proceeded to the checkout to meet a short queue. The cashiers were using some Backup which eventually failed another 5 mins later. From a distance we could hear the sound of their huge power plant trying to come on but it kept stuttering. I couldn't do anything but maybe wait a few more minutes and then drop the things I bought and leave because actual closing time wasn't too far off. Then a young gentleman behind started groaning. He said said "how can these people not have a back up gen and another one to back that up?" I turned around and looked at him almost asking him how many back up generators he had in his small business (I'm sure he has one) or in his house. I was still pondering on how this guy could not understand that they were trying to sort the issue out from the generating plant sound from a distance when he started screaming at the cashiers saying "how can you make us stand here like that. What kind of rubbish is this". I liked the way the cahiers just continued looking at their blank screens. Thankfully the lights came on and we were all checked out but during that process the dude was still murmuring behind me how we need change and all that and I knew he was an APC dude. A GMB fan. And I'm like oh yea I should have known because he constantly portrayed two striking characteristics of GMB supporters. (1) Always angry. (2) Always judgemental and experts in the blame game as I pondered on why he didn't go to the manager instead to scream at instead of the poor cashier or better still go to the generator guy behind. ?? |

He is only a typical Nigerian that is frustrated. Many more Nigerians are also this frustrated but have learnt to manage it without displaying such public nuisance. |
